We've been taught or our children have been taught to avoid discomfort. And what education is about is challenging us to encounter discomfort, potentially change the way we think, or potentially think more creatively and strongly the way we thought before. But encountering ideas that are different from our own is so essential to that, and I hope that education can return to that. My name is Rebecca Royce. I am a professor at New York Law School. I'm a former prosecutor. I looked particularly at prosecutors ethics and how it relates to politics. The academic environment has become hostile to different points of view. I think the politics of the people who are teaching now in universities is pretty uniform and that pushes everything such that a moderate view is cast as extreme and that also tends to create greater uniformity even even even than before. It's a reinforces this dynamic.
