Recently I spoke with Shereen Bhan at CNBC-TV18 and moneycontrol.com’s Global AI Conclave, where we discussed General Catalyst’s bullishness about India’s future. In particular I talked about India’s need for AI sovereignty–too critical of a new national resource to not make large investments in. The country is rapidly transforming itself. India’s entrepreneurial spirit is undeniable — as evidenced by young, hungry talent like Aadit Palicha and the Zepto team who are reshaping the quick commerce space. And trends in global supply chains as countries seek their national resilience will strongly benefit India as a deeper partner. My time in Bangalore with our 15+ person team (led by Neeraj and Priya) and founders in the community reaffirmed that now is India's moment to build global resilience and lead in applied AI. At GC, we’re proud to partner with India’s most ambitious entrepreneurs to help make this vision a reality. #GlobalResilience #AppliedAI #India
so well said Hemant Taneja. As someone who has spent half his life in India and rest in US, I can vouch for amazing synergy that can happen especially in healthcare with two very different systems of care to learn from and with entrepreneural talent on both sides. Great ideas need great support so thanks to you and General Catalyst for paving the way in working across the globe to solve our common healthcare challenges
Well said, Hemsnt! You and GC have gone from strength to strength since we first touched base in 2001 with our investment (HGFOF) in your early GC healthcare focused fund and you were subsequently rather helpful in sharing your insights for DD in an indian opportunity for our Asia Fund, HAPEP. Keep it up!
Can't agree more. With the purchasing power of the people of India increasing (YoY), Indian entrepreneurs and startups now have a large market to serve within the country, which is a big opportunity. And India making technological leaps especially in Financial and Healthcare sectors are astounding - just the sheer volume of digital payment transactions for example is huge! Not surprised, General Catalyst's focus there.
Hemant Taneja - 💯 India’s entrepreneurial spirit is undeniable- we are experiencing it firsthand at university we are engaging with in India. Students are eager to become entrepreneurs and solve diverse challenges in every university we have done entrepreneurship engagements at. It is also exciting to see the initiatives every university is building for both entrepreneurship and innovation.
Great insights, Hemant! How do you think AI will further impact India's growth in the next few years? 😊
Your comments are correct and the Indian companies must move forward and excel in their domain now!
General Catalyst and Hemant Taneja India 🇮🇳 Rising is an exciting story to watch!
🔥🔥🔥
Kudos Hemant. Keep growing.
