🚄🚚🚢There are three constants in life... change, choice and principles🚛✈️🚉 And this is the reason why this morning I’m on my way to Marseille, starting a new journey joining CEVA Logistics as Chief Transformation Officer. In this role, I’m excited to leverage my experience from leading global organizations across various industries to drive transformative initiatives at CEVA. After industry and services, I am joining a major player in logistics, a new sector for me to learn and grow. My focus will be on supporting and advicing all IT teams to enhance operational efficiency, strengthening business partnerships and making technology an integral part of the corporate strategy. Through this we will find space for innovation to deliver even greater value to our partners and customers, positioning CEVA for sustainable growth in the rapidly evolving logistics landscape. I’m also excited to join Susanne Schustin’s IT leadership team. Together, we will push the boundaries of technology and reshape the future of logistics, focusing on decarbonization and digitalization to build more resilient and sustainable supply chains for our clients, partners and employees. Maximizing space and resources are lessons from my mother. I want to share them with you. She and I are side by side, absorbing every ounce of her wisdom. She imparted a series of invaluable lessons that shaped my way of approaching life, unknowingly making the most of what we had. I am the oldest of six siblings, and I remember our long trips vividly. We did as much as we could with what we had, and she laid everything out, carefully evaluating what we needed and what could be left behind. “It's not just about fitting everything in,” she said, “it's about having what you need accessible and utilizing every inch of space.” It wasn't just about packing; it was a logistics masterclass. Her ability to turn limitations into strengths taught me the importance of space optimization and resource management. Without realizing it, her lessons have become the fundamental principles of my work and effort, from my time as a truck driver to my role today as the owner of Massiano Logistics. How We Turned a Crisis into a Victory in Just 30 Days. In 2019, a sudden request hit our team at Hellmann Worldwide Logistics. We had to transition warehouse operations from 8 hours to round-the-clock within one month. The stakes were high, and resources were limited. Challenge: Limited resources Opportunity: Secure long-term customer loyalty How Did We Do It? I seized the opportunity with a bulletproof strategy using the 80/20 rule. By concentrating on 20% of the staff, we prioritized palletized shipments using only 2 docks during the night shift. Recognizing that full capacity isn't always the solution, I optimized the morning shift with the remaining 80% of resources, efficiently operating all docks, particularly for loading dead pallets. Let's be real... the last 2 years have been about survival. Logistics and trucking have been hard on many levels. As leaders and teammates, you have to find the positivity in as many situations as possible. And when you win, no matter how small or big, celebrate. Let me tell you the story of this picture. This is my friend Dakota. We met through powerlifting, and we just clicked. Over the years we've connected at various meets and events, and in December, she met my coach Shaun. As we do, the conversations went to numbers, goals, and next meets, and she mentioned a goal of taking the all time world record squat in her weight class. For those not familiar, the "all time world record" or ATWR is all ages, all years, everything, no one on the planet has done this in competition. There is some additional context to the story I won't go into, but the jist is my coach took her on to take that record. At the 2024 Cincinnati Women's Pro/Am, she took her shot on her 3rd attempt and missed. As I reviewed the bar, a side had been misloaded. This gave her another opportunity to take the attempt. We finished the flight, reloaded the bar, and she executed. A goal she had had for years, and a goal that we (her, our coach, myself, and others) had worked towards for months, became reality. And this was the result. Find these moments in your business. It may not be a hugging, tears flowing moment; but it's just as important. 【The misfortune of Michelin's succession】 The world's largest tire brand, with revenues of USD 28.26 billion in 2022, has had six generations of leadership since its founding in 1889 by the Michelin brthers in the southern French town Clermont-Ferrand. Andre Michelin and his younger brother Edouard Michelin returned to their mother's family business, a manufacturing plant producing rubber components. At first, they only produced some rubber ball toys for children to play with, and later rubber hoses, rubber belts and brake blocks for carriages which were exported to England. Edouard Michelin's eldest son, aged 34, was killed in a plane crash in 1932 when his plane crashed during a storm that was shrouded in thick fog. Five years later, his second son Pierre crashed his car into a Peugeot driven by the Secretary of State's private secretary, killing the entire family on the spot and seriously injuring Pierre, who died the next day after being sent to hospital. The grandson François was raised by his uncle Robert Puiseus and became the 2nd generation of Michelin leaders in 1959. The succession went smoothly to the 4th generation, Édouard Michelin Jr, until 2006 when the successor died of falling into the sea during his fishing vacation in western Franc. Given that his six young children couldn’t take over the business, Michel Rollier, a 61-year-old uncle, became the sole manager of the company and maintained the operation.
