Our leadership sees the opportunity in #LastMile transit + the possible partnerships across industries + communities. Infrastructure for the future that is bold, innovative + scalable requires thoughtful interconnections with our energy systems. All of this underscores a future with less carbon.
At Con Edison, we are committed to being future-driven and constantly seek out ways to leverage new and evolving technologies to offer more energy-efficient solutions. It is our mission to explore innovative approaches that can revolutionize the energy landscape and pave the way for a sustainable future. On June 12th, we had the privilege of hosting six promising startup companies, giving them the platform to pitch their ideas on how they can contribute value in key areas such as Transport Electrification, Building Decarbonization, and the showcase of cutting-edge technologies that have the potential to reshape the energy market. This initiative underscores our dedication to fostering innovation and collaboration within the industry. We are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and remain committed to driving positive change through the adoption of new technologies. Big congratulations to Blip Energy, Edo, Perch Mobility, Inc, Treeswift, Singularity Energy on a job well done! 📷 Joe Morreale, Sean Umland, Eric Davis and Michael Badeski

Fun Fact time! 🎉 We're very excited to see our friends in #DAC make major progress lately. Why is CarbonBuilt so supportive of DAC, you may ask? Are we simply #ClimateTech friends? 🤔 Well, yes. ✅ But, wait, there's more. DAC needs to come down the cost curve, like any emerging technology. That happens with experience. According to Boston Consulting Group (BCG), “The characteristic [cost] decline is consistently 20-30% each time accumulated production is doubled. This decline goes on in time without limit (in constant dollars) regardless of the rate of growth of experience.” Sounds familar, right? This is Tech 101. Today's DAC systems have a "Last Mile" challenge. They capture CO2, and yet there are few places to put it. Geologic sequestration isn't widely available. Concrete allows for CO2 utilization and sequestration (#CCUS), preventing captured carbon from being vented back into the atmosphere. And if it all lines up, the carbon markets or government incentives can be applied to pay for that above-ground concrete sequestration. It's one way the tools of #climatefinance can help to keep the flywheel of innovation spinning. So now you know. 🧠 It's an emerging closed-loop system that can help hasten #CDR pace. And we're happy to be a part of it. 😁 Well done AirMyne and CarbonCapture Inc.! And Thanks Direct Air Capture Coalition.

In today's episode of Superpowers for Good, I had the pleasure of welcoming back Dr. Daniel Farb, CEO and Founder of FLOWER TURBINES Inc. It's been over five years since our last conversation, and the progress Daniel has made with his company is nothing short of remarkable. Flower Turbines isn't just about harnessing wind power; it's about doing it beautifully and efficiently, particularly in urban environments where traditional turbines would struggle. Daniel's vision for small, aesthetically pleasing wind turbines that operate quietly and efficiently has brought a fresh perspective to renewable energy. One of the most intriguing aspects of our conversation was Daniel's explanation of their patented "bouquet effect." This innovation allows their tulip-shaped turbines to be placed close together, enhancing each other's performance—something unheard of with traditional large wind turbines. As Daniel aptly put it, “When you have winds, you can collect [energy] 24 hours a day... We’re the only ones that can place turbines close together, and ours have this great benefit so that we can make better use of tight spaces than anybody else can.” This ability to optimize space without sacrificing efficiency could be a game-changer, particularly for off-grid power solutions. Moreover, Flower Turbines' products are bird-friendly, quiet, and designed to be integrated with solar and battery technologies, offering a comprehensive energy solution. Daniel's passion for innovation, backed by a robust portfolio of patents, is driving Flower Turbines toward what could be a significant leap in the renewable energy market. As they move into mass production, the potential for impact is tremendous, and I’m excited to see where this journey takes them next. Flower Turbines is raising capital from the crowd via StartEngine. http://s4g.biz/03sep24 #ImpactCrowdfunding #DiverseFounders #SocialEntrepreneurs #CommunityCapital #ImpactInvestors #RIC #InvestmentCrowdfunding #SuperCrowd

In M&A between large companies and disruptive startups, rarely do we see the acquirers successfully execute the vision of the visionaries (Nick Stork Richard Walton Brian McCarthy). Not the case here! Congrats to Starlee Sykes and the bp team for delivering as promised. Fun fact, and why Archaea’s business model is good for the planet and for shareholders: capturing emissions from every US landfill and converting into RNG will do more to reduce emissions than electrifying every passenger vehicle in the US (!!!). https://lnkd.in/gVWVGF-i
