E.L.F. BEAUTY is challenging the industry to DUPE THEM with DUPE THAT 🦄✨ This campaign is more than just clever marketing, it's a powerful statement about #BrandIdentity and #Values. Here's why "Dupe That" is making waves: 1️⃣ Playful #BrandPositioning: E.L.F. BEAUTY reinforces its image as a fun, approachable brand that delivers high-quality products at affordable prices. 2️⃣ Transforming Criticism into Strength: By reclaiming the term "#dupe" e.l.f. turns potential criticism into a powerful marketing asset. The brand has long been known for creating affordable alternatives to high-end products, earning a reputation as a "dupe" brand. Rather than avoiding this label, they've cleverly embraced it. 3️⃣ Showcasing Brand Values: The campaign challenges other brands to emulate e.l.f.'s positive practices, including #DemocratizingBeauty, #PromotingDiversity, and maintaining #EthicalStandards. 4️⃣ Engaging Social Media Presence: With its catchy slogan and visually appealing content, "#DupeThat" is designed to create buzz and encourage sharing across platforms. What are your thoughts on this approach? How do you think it will impact e.l.f.'s brand perception and market position? Let's discuss this in the comments! 💬 #elfcosmetics #DupeThat #BeautyIndustry #BrandInnovation #MarketingStrategy

Branding without authenticity is like putting on a coat in a heatwave; it might look good and cool for a moment, but eventually, everyone’s going to wonder what you’re hiding. 😄 A brand that fakes it isn’t fooling anyone for long. Authenticity isn't just a buzzword, it’s the core of every meaningful connection with your audience. No one falls in love with a mask, right? And what’s the point of visibility if what’s seen isn’t real? 🤔 So here’s a #MondayThought: Are you building a brand people can trust, or are you merely selling a version of what you think they want? Because in a world full of noise, the truth still cuts through the loudest. 🙌🏽 #TheBrandStoryTeller #BrandStrategy #Creative #Thinker

86% of consumers say authenticity influences their brand choice. Recent studies reveal a staggering 86% of consumers prioritize authenticity when choosing brands. Here's a thought - if branding is about deepening the truth, and marketing often about stretching it, where does this leave us in the quest for authentic connections? In a world overloaded with ads and corporate messaging, the craving for realness has never been more potent. Consumers are not just buying products; they're investing in what your brand stands for. The narrative you weave, the values you champion, and the transparency you offer are now as crucial as the quality of your services or products. Yet, there's a delicate dance between branding and marketing. One is rooted in truth, the other in persuasion. The key? Balance. Ensuring your marketing strategies don't wander too far from your brand's core truths is vital. It's about showcasing your brand's essence, not just selling a dream. Building something? As both a brand founder and a consumer, I’m honestly getting tired of the current state of the beauty industy. What happened to Golloria this past week was unacceptable, and no one should have to go through that. No brand is perfect, but it’s hard to believe that bigger companies don’t have the resources to properly test their products—especially complexion products that are being marketed as "universal." I’m not a marketing expert, but are brands starting to use "outrage marketing" to stir up sales, even if it comes at the cost of creators? It really feels like Golloria is being used by the industry, and that doesn’t sit right with me. When brands pull these kinds of moves, it gives people(bullies), the chance to gaslight creators and even push racist narratives. Golloria’s comment section got seriously nasty, and too often, creators are left to deal with the fallout while brands stay silent. As a brand, being transparent is everything. It’s okay to admit when you’ve messed up. And if a product hasn’t been properly tested on all skin tones, maybe don’t market it as universal????

I’m not sure this brand message is the right tagline to create distinction. Inclusivity is super important, but when it comes to advertising you want to create a sense of belonging for a single segment in a single moment of time, on the single channel they’re using in that single moment of search, scroll or swipe while applying the emotion to a broader portion of that segment. Do you think dads in Ohio want to wear these after they read this ad!? Absolutely not! Have you been to Ohio? They can give a flying f*#k about that highlife in London, NY, SF, LA, Dubai, Paris, fill in the black. While mentioning dads in Ohio may get a few giggles, it’s not as far reaching. Also I’m not sure the word supermodels holds a positive connotation in this era. A more inclusive and timeless tagline: “Now worn by a celebrity near you” While hinting at the origins before the “now”.. makes it more open ended and aspirational. This allows the broader audience to interpret it differently given their own perspective. Or make it modular, “Now worn by a _________ near you.” Rapper Super Model Baller Gamer Hipster Soccer Mom #brandstrategy #brandmessage #advertising

This ad copy is a masterclass in appealing to a broad audience while leveraging deep-seated desires for inclusivity, identity, and social proof. By consistently portraying New Balance as a brand worn by both fashion icons and everyday individuals, the ad strengthens brand identity and loyalty. #newbalance #advertising #consumerpsychology #behavioraleconomics #marketing

How do the best brands go from unknown to unforgettable? In one of my recent articles for studioID’s springboard, I discuss how certain companies supersede the competition. Discover what strategies brands like Glossier, Inc., Gong, hims & hers, and Strawberry Milk Mob have used to build awareness, foster community, and earn a loyal following. One key insight? 72% of consumers prefer brands that make them laugh. Companies like Gong have proven that humor, especially work-related humor, connects with audiences on a deeper level by making them feel seen and understood, not sold to. But the magic goes beyond humor—it’s about telling a story that resonates with your audience’s real experiences, emotions, and values. It’s about creating a brand identity that stands out in a crowded market by connecting with consumers rather than simply promoting products. If you're looking to create content that makes your brand unforgettable, reach out to me at [email protected] to see how I can help your brand write stuff that resonates.
