"I am very happy with my new resume using Helene's services. Using this new format I have gotten more responses on job applications in the last 3 months than I have in the past year." 📝 Resume Tip Alert NOT having a Heading between your name/contact information and your Summary on your resume can be a big mistake! ❌ If a recruiter or Talent Acquisition person can't immediately get a feel for your expertise, you might go unnoticed. ❓ Do you want to risk landing in the 'NO' pile because your skills (and keywords) aren't readily visible to the reader? 🤔 🔍 The solution? put a Heading, centered above the Summary, that lists what you do/are! (Example: Project Manager or Human Resources Manager, etc.) Recruiters scan your resume very quickly, so why take the chance of not getting noticed? Your job search is too important to leave to fate. #resumetips #transitioningmilitary #militarytransition #resumehelp #resumeassistance #resumes101 #resumemistakes #keepitsimple Image by OpenClipart-Vectors from Pixabay

I can't emphasize enough the need to add the right links to your CVs. 🤦🏽♀️ I know I am not sharing anything new. But time and again occurrence of CV mistakes like these makes me worried about y'all who lost a career opportunity because of such small errors. Recruiters have only so much time to review hundreds of CVs. Especially for certain roles, our mental model leads us directly to check out the portfolio and LinkedIn links. 🔗 There are so many times when I end up on the LinkedIn homepage when I click the profile link from a CV. This one example in particular was a step ahead because it really had the LinkedIn homepage link itself under the candidate's social profile section. 🥲 People, please read your CV multiple times before you finalize the copy. It is indeed your first impression to the organisation you're applying to. Make it count! ✅ #humanresources #resume #cv

Would you trust a resume without dates? A candidate recently sent me a resume without any dates of employment. When I asked why, he explained that he didn’t want to be judged based on the time spent at each job. I believe this is a big mistake. 🚫 By omitting dates, you're not avoiding judgment—you’re actually raising red flags. ❌❗ It can make it seem like you're hiding something, which is far worse than any potential concern about job duration. Remember, transparency builds trust. If you have short stints or gaps, be upfront and ready to explain them. Employers generally value honesty and context over missing details. What do you think? Would you even consider a resume without dates? As a recruiter, would you send any of your clients such a resume? #ResumeTips #CareerAdvice #TransparencyMatters #JobSearch

This is so important. Our anxiety and desperation makes us send these "bulk" DMs, and complain why things aren't working! I understand you need a job. However, you must seek first to understand, than to be understood, as Stephen Covey said. Translated: Understand that a senior person in a company will hire you based on how you reach out to them, share what value you bring to the table, and how you make it easier for them to hire you. If you want the job the unconventional way, you gotta reach out for it the unconventional (and the right) way.

A candidate messaged me on LinkedIn with his resume, saying, “Hi, please find enclosed my CV for the needful action.” He lost any chance of me opening his resume or responding to him. In the past, I've encountered great candidates who successfully initiated a conversation before sharing their CVs. Some of them were even hired. I have even hired candidates who initiated good conversation on X. A thoughtful approach and genuine conversation make all the difference. Be thoughtful when you approach, it is the first and last chance to make an impact. PS. I did respond to this guy. Just to make sure that he doesn’t repeat the same mistake. #jobs

🌟 Attention Job Seekers! 🌟 Today, I received a resume from a promising candidate. Everything looked great—skills, experience, and enthusiasm. However, there was just one small hiccup: a single digit was missing from their contact details! This got me thinking about the importance of attention to detail in our professional journeys. A small oversight can mean missed opportunities, whether it’s a missing digit in a phone number or a typo in a cover letter. Let’s remember that every detail counts! If you’re applying for jobs, double-check your resume and contact information. You never know when that perfect opportunity will come knocking! 🚪✨ #JobSearch #AttentionToDetail #CareerAdvice #HRInsights
