Today, Deloitte released the 13th edition of the Gen Z and Millennial Survey which connected with nearly 23,000 respondents across 44 countries to track their experiences and expectations at work and in the world more broadly. A key insight for me – Gen Zs and millennials are uncertain about #GenAI but positive perceptions largely increase with frequent use. While the top emotion they report feeling is uncertainty, excitement and fascination are close behind. They believe business has a critical role to play in ensuring the ethical use of technology and mitigating potential challenges. I believe organizations have a tremendous opportunity to greatly influence how GenAI adoption unfolds in the future specifically with the Gen Z and Millennial communities through both learning and development, as well as hands-on training and experience. Both generations express cautious optimism amid global uncertainties, expecting economic and personal financial improvements in the coming year. 📈 From New Zealand's perspective, while cost of living concerns dominate, there's a silver lining! 🇳🇿 Over half of Kiwi respondents report positive mental well-being, and discussions on mental health are becoming more open, led by supportive leadership. However, workplace stress remains a significant issue, with notable anxiety about the future impact of Generative AI. Despite these challenges, the survey reveals a shift towards returning to the office, with many employers advocating a hybrid model. #GenZ #Millennials #WorkplaceTrends #MentalHealthAwareness #GenerativeAI #DeloitteSurvey2024 https://lnkd.in/gZtxgPdA

Hey #Insurance - Almost 90% of the younger generations (who make up the majority of the workforce and growing) say purpose is key to job satisfaction. The great news is our industry has an amazing mission. The bad news is that we're bad at helping our young employees understand just how important our mission is. They also say value alignment is crucial, especially when it comes to the environment. We must stop investing our reserves in dirty fuels and need to start planning on how to stop underwriting them too. Work/Life balance is also a top priority, luckily we're pretty good at that, except in claims where long stressful weeks seem to be the norm.
Interesting conclusions from the Deloitte 2024 Gen Z and Millennial Survey, reinforcing some common themes associated with these generations in the workplace: ✅ Almost 90% of Gen Zs and millennials say PURPOSE is key to job satisfaction, and value alignment is increasingly a make-or-break factor for job acceptance. 🌍 This is particularly true when it comes to ENVIRONMENT, with 60% of Gen Zs and millennials concerned about climate, putting increasing pressure on employers to walk-the-talk and to reflect their environmental values. ⚖ WORK/LIFE BALANCE remains a top priority, but the feared shift back to on-site-work is bringing some benefits such as improved engagement, connection and collaboration, and has coincided with a year-on-year drop in reported stress levels.
