I recently tested Hotshot, a new AI video generator. ↳ Developed by a 4-person team in just 13 months, ↳ Generates 5-10 second videos from text prompts, ↳ 2 free generations per day (paid plans available). A common observation: AI-generated video is advancing at lightning speed. But the results can be hit or miss. After testing Hotshot, I noticed some key points: 1) Incredible demos with ultra-realistic humans, animals in wild scenarios, and abstract concepts. 2) My personal experience was mixed; my "Cat on roller skates" looked more like a blob on wheels. 3) Hotshot claims that within 12 months, we’ll be creating entire YouTube videos with AI. → The potential is mind-blowing, but there’s a catch. → While the technology is impressive, the results are not always perfect. It's not as simple as it seems. But the advancements in AI video generation are worth exploring. As a digital marketing agency always on the lookout for cutting-edge tools, we had to give it a spin. 👀 First Impressions: - Impressive for mimicking real-world scenarios - Struggles with abstract concept work - Subscription is wallet-friendly at ~£20/month 🧪 Our Test Drive: We put Gen-3 Alpha through its paces, focusing on financial concepts like national debt, gold, Bitcoin, and money. The results? Let's just say there's room for improvement. 🔍 Quality Check: It's worth noting that none of the videos we generated were upscaled - this is the actual quality they came in. What you see is what you get! 🤔 Things to Consider: They don't disclose how many prompts it took to create their showreel videos. Our monthly allowance vanished in just one hour of experimentation. Getting high-quality output after multiple tries could get costly. 🖋️ Prompt Perfection: Even with detailed prompts like "Visual: a dark empty corridor darkly lit with artificial neon coloured light. Camera motion: handheld camera smoothly zooms down the empty corridor and out of a door into a large room revealing rows of humanoid looking robots shot from behind in trading stocks and shares on trading screens", the results were hit-or-miss. 💡 The Verdict: While Gen-3 Alpha shows promise, it's not quite ready for prime time in specialised fields like financial marketing.
