Hiring the right talent is one of the most critical decisions you make as a founder. 🚀 The first few hires can make or break your startup. These early members don’t just fill roles—they shape your culture and drive growth. But it’s not just about finding skilled individuals. You need people who: — Take ownership — Are driven by the mission — Can evolve into future leaders At Yugen.ai, we relied on our network for our first hires—people we trust, who are experts in their field. But as the team grows, sourcing talent for roles beyond your own expertise becomes a challenge. That’s where external help comes in. Tools like LinkedIn and agencies help us tap into a broader talent pool. 💡 But remember, the right person isn’t just about skills—they must align with your startup’s vision and culture. How do you ensure your early hires are the right fit? #StartupHiring #TeamBuilding #Leadership #FoundersJourney

I often think about Exec teams (aka ELT, SLT, etc.) as a group of X-(Wo)Men, ideally where each person brings a special superpower or skill set to the collective group. Maybe you've got a Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine, or a Jean Grey. By themselves they're pretty awesome, but when you've got Storm throwing down thunderbolts ⚡ and Cyclops shooting freakin' laser beams 🔦, you've got diversity of strengths and complimentary superpowers. That's the power of a team. ✊ I'm super excited to announce IXOPAY's latest X-(Wo)Men with Kelly Smith Wenzel as our CCO, and Ronnie Thomson as our new global CTO. As every company says (but it's actually true with us), these strategic hires speak to our rapid growth and commitment to bringing in talent and leaders that are the very best and brightest. Kelly (aka "Storm" ⛈ ) has scaled large businesses in all things CS/CX, and has an incredible talent for optimizing operations and implementing processes in rapidly growing businesses. Her energy and enthusiasm has been infectious and has immediately up-leveled our ELT. Our top customers already love her. Ronnie (aka "Cyclops") has a maniacal focus on detail, and has a long and impressive history of scaling tech orgs and platforms inside large businesses, to include those with global operations. He's personally led tech due diligence and post acquisition integration projects in 20+ M&A events, so that experience is critical as we (IXOPAY) continue to focus on inorganic growth as an important element of our growth strategy. 🚀 Welcome to the team Kelly and Ronnie, and appreciate the immediate impact and leadership y'all have already brought to the business! 🔥 *Company announcement in the comments* #Leadership #PaymentOrchestration #FinTech

Taking hiring calls based on your gut feeling is a disaster. Your gut doesn’t need training, your process does. That changes today with the CRAFT of Building Growth Teams by GrowthX®: https://lnkd.in/gm_di6j2 ✨ Earlier this year, I had access to the beta of this CRAFT built by Udayan. It helped unlock blind spots on building a better growth team. It gave me Important inputs on: 1. How to attract bar raiser growth talent. 2. Making sure my team never has a motivation problem with a rigorously validated learning roadmap. 3. Prioritising whom to hire & never over-hire again. 4. Filtering talent that is high intent & aligned to your mission. 5. Ensuring my hires are creating impact without needing handholding or being told what to do. I've been reflecting on the importance of recognizing potential over pedigree recently, especially when building a team for a high-growth tech startup. It's a lesson I've learned over time, emphasizing creativity, resourcefulness, and the ability to navigate the world on their own terms. Not all talent comes with a prestigious degree or a flashy resume. It's about finding those unique individuals who bring something special to the table—those willing to tackle challenges head-on and bring fresh, innovative solutions. It's about seeing beyond the conventional markers of success and betting on those who think differently. Here's a thought: How do we ensure we're not missing out on these unconventional talents? How do we foster an environment that values potential and nurtures these hidden gems into industry leaders? #TechLeadership #Innovation #StartupCulture #UnconventionalTalent And for those out there feeling overlooked, remember: your unique journey and perspective are your strengths. Keep pushing boundaries, and don't be afraid to chart your own path. Who knows? You might just be the next game-changer the tech world needs. 💡🚀
