Earlier this week, USAID launched its Digital Health Position Paper, which will guide 2024-2029 investment in data and digital health to strengthen country health systems. The position paper recommits to the four strategic priorities in the Digital Health Vision (2020-2024) and identifies six promising practices for USAID’s digital health investments and activities. Of the six practices, the report called for Support country-led governance of health system digital transformation. It highlights the importance of USAID investment in this area, recognizing it as a foundational and ongoing need across a country's health system and broader health sector digital transformation journey as measured by the Global Digital Health Monitor (GDHM). The GDHM is a powerful tool for countries to understand their progress towards comprehensive integrated digital health ecosystems, identify their national funding & technical assistance needs, and improve alignment among policy makers, donors, and implementers. USAID calls out country digital health governance as crucial for setting a vision, developing plans, establishing priorities, directing and sustaining investments, ensuring resilience in digitally supported health systems, and maintaining functionality during disruptions. The Global Digital Health Monitor (GDHM) is a dynamic web-based platform that aids countries in prioritizing and monitoring their digital health investments by: • Providing a platform to establish a baseline and measure year-on-year progress • Helping policymakers to systematically identify and prioritize areas for investment to improve digital health maturity • Enabling Ministries of Health to advocate for the resources and partnerships they need to achieve digital transformation of health The World Health Organization (WHO) is working, across all its six regions and with member-states, to amplify the use of the Global Digital Health Monitor as an official WHO maturity instrument. Under the new Global Initiative on Digital Health, the Monitor is an important tool to develop country plans and align limited resources toward building strong #digitalhealth foundations. WHO, health.enabled, and a broad range of partners, including UNICEF, AeHIN, RECAINSA, Africa CDC, among others are now working with countries to participate in the annual survey. The process is collaborative and country-led. Connect with members of the health.enabled team at info@digitalhealthindex.org to learn how we can support your country in joining the GDHM.

Allied Health Digital Transformation needs to happen now so we can share the important health information of consumers we work with to inform their care teams. The below survey is critical for currently practising professionals to complete so the required resources can be provided to help this transformation. Asking all my allied health colleagues to please prioritise completing!
📢 Help us shape the future of digital health! AHPA, in collaboration with the Australian Digital Health Agency, is working to ensure streamlined access and connection to digital health products (such as My Health Record, Provider Connect AustraliaTM and e-prescribing). To help with this, AHPA has developed the Allied Health Digital Transformation Survey and will use the insights from this data to inform change and digital adoption strategies, develop resources, training and education material to support the allied health sector. This is a great opportunity to hear directly from allied health professionals and to be part of these Government driven digital initiatives for two key reasons: - to more easily share a consumer's health information with doctors, specialists, and other members of their care team; and - to enable safe and secure use of other digital products into the future. Please share with your colleagues and networks today!

Launch of the OECD-GDHP Policy Repository Tool 🌱 🌐 Around the world, the advancement of digital health technologies and health information systems have provided tools to address shared #healthsystem challenges – if effectively harnessed. 📊 The GDHP #PolicyEnvironments Workstream and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD - OCDE) have created the OECD-GDHP Policy Repository Tool to map and connect existing and new policy frameworks. 📄 Find the Policy Repository Tool and more information here: https://lnkd.in/eKZPnQhy 💻 The joint #PolicyRepositoryTool builds upon the OECD’s existing Policy Checklist and serves as an international digital health policy repository. On a global level, this dynamic Tool allows countries to identify leading practices worldwide around a variety of topics, such as interoperability and secondary use of data. 📈 It will allow #digitalhealth leaders to understand experiences internationally and pick the best lessons to apply in their context. There are a variety of use cases for the Policy Repository Tool, including the ability to focus on specific digital health initiatives and country mapping – enabling comparators across countries. 🤝 Most importantly, the Policy Repository Tool can help facilitate conversations across GDHP member countries and partner organizations to share learnings and further disseminate leading practices in digital health policy around the world. 📄 Find the accompanying news article here: https://lnkd.in/eWyimigp Rishub Keelara Eric Sutherland Simon Hagens Mitchell Nono Ronan O'Kelly Christopher Ng-Fletcher OECD - OCDE Canada Health Infoway Department of Health - Ireland #bestpractices #DigitalTransformation #healthinformationsystems

Digital health has a transformative impact on achieving #UniversalHealthCoverage. By leveraging digital technologies, health systems can significantly enhance accessibility, affordability, and quality of care, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. USAID’s recently released Digital Health Position Paper (2024-2029) is a vital tool for equipping global stakeholders with the strategies, tools, and solutions needed to keep pace with rapid technological advancements. Chemonics International's Digital Development Practice Lead Manisha Aryal emphasizes, “Digital is a key enabler in the journey towards #UHC. USAID’s Digital Health Position Paper offers a solid framework for strengthening health system resilience and accelerating progress towards UHC by leveraging the digital ecosystem and using emerging technologies responsibly." #12DaysOfUHC UHC2030 - Taking action for universal health coverage https://lnkd.in/d9cupbSR

Great news from WHO about global digital health! WHO/Europe is all set to launch its first-ever Strategic Partners’ Initiative for Data and Digital Health, which will "work to identify and address gaps in data and digital health ecosystems to help to build safe, affordable and person-centered health systems in the WHO European Region," reports the World Health Organization. This is great news, as digital tools are continuing to play an increasingly important role in improving health outcomes. One of the main objectives of this initiative is developing future scenarios for healthcare delivery and data usage in Europe that can be used to inform the transformation of health systems, which I think is such an important goal. What do you think about this initiative? #HealthcareNews #DigitalHealth #WHO
