This World AIDS Day 2024, Int'l Association of Providers of AIDS Care and Fast-Track Cities released “Re-Imagining the Global HIV Response,” featuring bold recommendations to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. A cornerstone of the report is the critical role of U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable) in the global HIV response. Key recommendations include: • Promoting U=U Awareness: Scaling up campaigns to educate communities and healthcare providers about U=U to reduce stigma and empower people living with HIV. • Advancing Health Equity: Expanding access to testing, treatment, and care to ensure all individuals living with HIV can achieve and maintain an undetectable viral load. • Centering Human Rights: Combating stigma and discrimination to create supportive environments where U=U is embraced as a fundamental truth. • Empowering Communities: Strengthening community-led initiatives to deliver tailored U=U messaging and support. These recommendations reaffirm that U=U is not just a message—it’s a life-changing reality for millions and a key strategy to reimagine and achieve an AIDS-free future. https://lnkd.in/dJ93PkaJ #WorldAIDSDay2024 #EndAIDS2030 #UequalsU #HIVResponse #HealthEquity #HumanRights #CommunityLeadership #FastTrackCities #IAPAC

📢 Excited to join Senator Liz Miranda and Dr. Taimur Khan for an Instagram Live discussion on STD/STIs and HIV this Tuesday, December 5th, from 12:30-1 PM EST! 🗓️ I was raised in the HIV space—learning and growing in ways that continue to shape the work I do and reflect the core of what drives me in #equity #socialimpact —engaging communities, fostering partnerships, and addressing inequities with intentionality. This work is deeply personal. HIV prevention and care require systems rooted in trust, equity, and collaboration. And while the discussion will highlight STD/STIs and HIV, the lessons are universal: ❔How do we create accessible systems that meet people where they are? ❔How do we address systemic barriers while centering communities? At Ocha Transformations, these same questions guide my work with organizations to build cross-sector collaborations that center equity and collective impact. From addressing health disparities to designing intentional partnerships, the mission is clear: real transformation happens when we center people and relationships in our systems. Join the IG Live (@SenatorLizMiranda) as we discuss what’s working, what’s needed, and what’s next. #PublicHealth #HIVAIDS #HealthEquity #SocialImpact #CollectiveImpact #OchaTransformations

Hello LinkedIn fam! I have got something interesting to share with you. Excitedly, I'm here to share my very first post with all of you🥁🥁🎉. As a Copywriter, I have been delving into different topics to connect with the community on this platform. And so after thoughtful consideration, I have narrowed down to a niche that I am eager to explore further – "championing HIV/AIDS awareness". Yes, I must say that this is an aspect of health education we all shy away from. That's probably due to the fear of what it sounds like. But we all need to know that 'as long as it is HIV, we talk about it to spread awareness and not fear!' Low-key personal interest at first, but because of my involvement with the NYSC CDS group (Reproductive Health / HIV and AIDS), this focus has grown into a deep devotion. Our group's efforts have centered on educating about sexual and reproductive health, supporting those affected by HIV/AIDS, and combating stigma. Reflecting on my journey with the CDS group in the past few months, I've come to appreciate the transformative potential of knowledge. Through volunteer work and collaboration with healthcare experts and initiatives, I've witnessed firsthand how awareness can empower communities to take proactive steps towards prevention and support. Know that HIV/AIDS remains a critical global health issue, affecting millions worldwide. By fostering dialogue, challenging misconceptions, and advocating for accessible healthcare, we can break down barriers and create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all. I'm eager to connect with individuals and organizations dedicated to advancing HIV/AIDS awareness and fostering healthier communities. Whether you're a healthcare professional, advocate, or simply passionate about making a difference, I'd love to hear your insights and collaborate on meaningful initiatives. Let's work together in promoting education, advocating for positive change, and making a tangible difference in the fight against HIV/AIDS. #Firstpost #newbeginnings2024 #Benuekopa #SexualandReproductiveHealthEducation #NiBUCAA #HIVAwareness #EndStigma #EndHIVAIDS #Healthcare #HealthEquity

This #WorldAIDSDay, I am honored to stand with Gilead Sciences, in our commitment to work to end #HIV by ensuring that everyone, everywhere, has equitable access to care. Guided by this year’s UNAIDS theme, ‘Take the Rights Path,’ we know that ending the HIV epidemic requires more than scientific innovation alone. It takes dedication to breaking down systemic barriers and supporting those who advocate for people affected by HIV. This commitment is especially urgent in light of worrying trends: Belgium has seen an increase of 13% of HIV diagnoses from diverse groups in 2023*. In The Netherlands, for the first time in 15 years, there is an increase of HIV diagnoses in the young MSM (men who have sex with men) community**. At Gilead Sciences, we support diverse partners and impacted communities who are at the forefront of this work, leading prevention, education, and treatment initiatives that ensure everyone gets the care they need. Reducing health disparities and addressing social inequities are core to our mission, as we work to eliminate HIV as a public health challenge by 2030. Ending HIV remains our ultimate goal, but we believe that no person should be left behind as we strive to make meaningful progress in the fight against HIV. #GileadProud #MakingProgressTogether *Sciensano Report 2024 **hiv-monitoring report 2024

December 1 marks World AIDS Day. Some quick stats: 🚩 HIV was first identified more than 40 years ago. 📢 1.3 million people still acquire HIV annually, and more than 600,000 lose their lives to AIDS-related causes. The burden of HIV remains inequitably distributed and disproportionately impacts LMICs as well as marginalized communities — including men who have sex with men, people who inject drugs, sex workers, and adolescent girls and young women. The theme of #WorldAIDSDay2024, “Take the rights path: My health, my right,” speaks to the need to continue pursuing equity in the global HIV response by advocating for human rights and against stigmatization. In recognition of this, IAVI and our partners pursue a global access agenda centered on ensuring the products we are developing will reach all people who need them. We remain resolute in our commitment to advance ambitious HIV prevention research, which holds much promise for the future. Do you know your status? Yesterday was National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. It's an important initiative led by the Office on Women's Health aimed at supporting women and girls living with HIV. There's still so much stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS. It's essential to have more open conversations about this. Let's work on reducing the stigma by promoting testing, prevention, and treatment options specifically for women. According to the CDC, about 23% of people living with HIV in the U.S. are women. In 2021 alone, women accounted for 19% of new HIV diagnoses. It's a significant number, and the highest rates of new diagnoses were among women ages 25 to 44. The key message here is knowing your status. If you haven't been tested recently, please get tested. It's so important to catch HIV early and get proper treatment. Watch the video for more information. #EndHIVStigma #WomenAndHIV #hivawareness #healthcare #virtualassistant #KnowYourStatus #U=U(Undetectable = Untransmittable)
