Who says small team can't build kickass product These folks #engineered the product grounds-up in 7 months and shaped it for commercial launch! #Culture in the team: 1. No one is manager - every engineer has authority to act like a product owner and design think the product design before the build. 2. Nothing is offered on plate - everyone builds the feature grounds-up and nothing is offered on plate (epic, user story, user experience playbooks). Feature direction is given, how to get that to the end is what they have to think and deliver 3. Own it - if a feature is picked, that engineer will own end to end, rather than bouncing or breaking the feature between multiple folks. Own the complete feature lifecycle from the concept to production 4. Learn fast - no one is perfect but everyone need to set quarterly benchmark of what's next (skills!). Learn on the job and learn it fast. Mono-skill will not work, engineer need to be full stack! 5. Deliver fast / Velocity - sprints cycles are reduced from 2 weeks to a week, and they have to thrive in that delivery velocity. Constantly challenge the velocity and self-evolve. It's okay, you might mess up here and there, but you will learn and evolve fast. 6. Be friends - you are not here as employees, you are here as cult, a force, as bonded friends who can look after each other. Share workloads, share problems, share success! 7. ZERO politics - speak up openly !  Without connected, high velocity team, nothing meaningful can be achieved. #proud

In the recent past I have learnt and realised how product development teams take task breakdown, and task ordering less seriously when compared to the amount of effort that goes into tech planning. You might say #SprintGrooming and #SprintPlanning should do it! The question is, do we really spend time on clean task breakdown and ordering with the right people while sprint planning ? A #devteam is an assortment of engineers, including killer #problemsolvers, awesome #debuggers, #perfectionists, and many more #tortoises and #hares. Do we consider this combination well ? Let me build an analogy - If product development was cooking a dish, imagine how important it is to know what to start with, when to chop vegetables, how long to let something raw marinate, and to add the right amount of everything at the right time to do justice to your recipe, along with getting all of this done with a group of prople with various expertise. The same applies to product development, if you do not meticulously plan when to start what, how one feature can compliment the development effort of another feature, dependencies on smaller deliverables that cater to a larger module, who can do what best, and a lot more. It all boils down to effective #EngineeringManagement. How often have we thought little about #EngineeringManagers ? IMHO an Engineering Manager is as important as a Software Architect is to a technical product development team and its successful delivery. A Software Architect can design a solution, while an Engineering Manager is responsible in sculpting it with a team of devs to precision, and in time. Now, this involves carefull task breakdowns, task ordering, task assignment and an array of duties that an Engineering Manager performs on a day to day basis. And I urge everyone to give the same importance to Engineering Management that we give to #Tech and #ProblemSolving. The key isn't just developing more, it's developing better. ⚙️✨ Many times in the world of software development, we fall into the trap of thinking that "more is better." The more features we build, the more successful the product will be, right? But is that really the case? As a Product Manager, I believe the real value lies in asking first what we should develop and why. The success of a product isn't measured by the sheer amount of code written, but by the efficiency and impact of every single line. I've seen how sometimes it's assumed that once we've done "what's necessary" to get the product working, we can start building whatever we want. However, it's crucial to stop and think: Are we solving a real user need? 🧐 Are we optimizing what we already have? 🛠️ Are we investing enough time in research to make informed decisions? 📊 The time we spend on analysis, research, and validation shouldn't be seen as downtime but as a strategic investment. Developing without analysis is like flying blind. It's not always about adding more features but about optimizing what exists and ensuring every new functionality serves a clear purpose. In short: It’s not about doing more, it’s about doing it better. Am I of a different kind? Pretty early in my career I realised that I'm a bit odd. I do interested in ideas behind a product I'm working on, sometimes I even could suggest a feature or two. But real excitement comes to me when I'm thinking about how things should be built, what tech I'll use, what the architecture could be, how to make everything robust and reliable. I've been often said that things like these matter less than I'm thinking or even don't matter at all. We have to deliver and we have to do it fast. The product is important, because it is what bringing us money, and the development is just an expenditure. Once a friend of mine suggested a book, called "The goal" by Eliyahu M. Goldratt. Entertaining read. Pretty much like "The Deadline: A Novel About Project Management", but about production management and efficiency. It helped me to see things at a different angle and to justify the way I'm completing tasks. You see, a quick solution is helping us to deal with backlog faster (or to keep it manageable at least), but it misses the point that software development is just a part of a bigger pipeline, which originates in someone's mind or as a result of a research, goes through design, implementation, Q&A and release stages in order to reach end-user and start to earn or save. And at the first glance it seems reasonable to shorten the implementation stage, but weak implementation will lead to errors that will be found at Q&A. Fixing of those errors will hold us back from progressing on the other stuff. And it could be even worse if those errors will appear after release. You know the end of this story: firefighting, context switching, management pushing, overtiming, burnouts. I've been there, plenty of times and don't want to return back again. So I decided that I better take my time and spend couple more hours or days to execute my work properly. I'll not be the fastest developer in the industry, but I'm aiming to save more money to a team I'm working with by creating a solution that is hard to break and that we will be able to trust. #softwaredevelopment #coding #productmanagement #reliabletech #teamwork #collaboration

Scene: Me: (Approaching the developers) "Hey team, the feature we deployed seems to be causing issues on the client side. Any ideas?" Developer 1: "It's strange. I tested it thoroughly on my local machine before deployment, and everything worked perfectly." Developer 2: "Yeah, I'm not seeing any issues either. Could it be a configuration problem on the client's end?" 🤔 Me: "Let's investigate further. We can't miss our deadlines for the client." 🕵️♂️ Scene: Me: (After running additional tests) "The issue persists. What could be different between your environment and the client's setup?"
