💼 2-Minute Tuesday Tip: Navigating the Compensation Question in Job Interviews 💼 Whether you're a Project Manager, Estimator, Superintendent, or Project Engineer, handling the compensation question during an interview is key! 🚧💡 Don't rush to state your salary expectations. Instead, focus on showing the value you bring to the table. 🏗️ Here’s why: 1️⃣ Deflect the Salary Talk: When asked, emphasize finding the right company culture to grow your career. If needed, share your current salary and express openness to a fair offer. 2️⃣ Show Your Value First: Highlight how you’ve made an impact. Did you: Save money by reducing costs? 💰 Make money through value engineering or change orders? 💼 Solve problems for past employers? 🛠️ Quantify your accomplishments to stand out and demonstrate how you can contribute to their success. Keep it recent, keep it real, and stay confident. Mastering these strategies can help you land the job you want and get the offer you deserve! 👷♂️✨ #HeavyCivil #ConstructionCareers #InterviewTips #2MinuteTuesday #SalaryNegotiation

A lot of what I've posted here has been recruiting tips and tricks. Those are universal, but I will tell you that recruiting in construction is DIFFERENT. That's what I love about it though, so today, here are my top 10 phrases you'll hear in construction recruiting that you won't hear in other industries: 10. "Is it ok to take the phone interview in my truck?" 9. "I'm coming straight off the site. Should I bring a change of shoes for the meeting or is it cool if I'm in my steel toes?" 8. "I can't talk now. Can you call me tomorrow at 5:45(am) when I'm on my way to the site" 7. "Let me get down from here and call you back in 10 minutes" 6. "You need a resume? Ok, let me make one for you tonight. I'll try and remember all the jobs I've done" 5. "An hour isn't enough time for me to get there. I have to take a bus from the job to my car off site and that's 25 minutes on its own!" 4. "Bro, I can build anything. And I have" 3. "Unless they give me a truck, I can't take that job." 2. "I mean, I'll commute 2 hours, but 3 each way is starting to get a little much" 1. "I'm only 65. I got a good 10-15 years left in me to build!" If you have others, share them below! #construction #constructionrecruiter #recruiterlife #different Delta Construction Partners, Inc.

Absolutely nailed it! 🗝️ As a recruiter for Civil and Structural Engineers, I've witnessed firsthand how even the most qualified candidates can struggle during interviews. From my experience, here are key strategies to ensure you shine in your next interview: 1️⃣ **Research the company**: Dive into their recent projects, understand their values, and get a feel for their company culture. This not only shows your genuine interest but also helps you tailor your responses to align with the company's ethos. 2️⃣ **STAR method**: Structure your answers using the Situation, Task, Action, Result formula. For instance, if you're discussing a project, clarify the context (Situation), your role (Task), the steps you took (Action), and the outcome (Result). This approach ensures your responses are clear, concise, and impactful. 3️⃣ **Ask questions**: Prepare thoughtful questions about the role, team, and company's future plans. This demonstrates your enthusiasm and helps you gauge if the job aligns with your career aspirations. Remember, an interview is not just an assessment of your fit for the company but also your opportunity to assess if the company is the right fit for you. 👷♂️📈 Good luck out there! #CivilEngineering #JobSearch #InterviewTips

Let's talk about resumes in the Construction Industry! As a specialist recruiter for Commercial Construction professionals, I see many resumes that fail to showcase a candidate's full potential. Here are some tips to help you stand out and increase your chances of landing an interview: Include Project Details: ➡️Mention projects with their dollar value, name, scope, and size. This paints a clear picture of your experience to the Hiring Manager. Highlight Specific Achievements: ➡️List any awards received on projects, individual accolades, and instances where you completed projects early or under budget. ➡️Ex. Led a team of 10 in completing a $20M Commercial High-Rise a month ahead of schedule. Showcase Projects Won: ➡️Include significant projects you’ve successfully secured. Detail Team Leadership: ➡️Specify how many individuals you oversee, demonstrating your leadership skills. Lead Role Acknowledgment: ➡️Clearly state if you’ve been the lead on projects, emphasizing your responsibility and expertise. Technical Skills: ➡️Include relevant technical skills and certifications that are specific to construction (ex. OSHA 30) Avoid Generic Descriptions: ➡️Focus on quantifiable data rather than vague descriptions If you’re a commercial construction professional in the Ohio area and looking to improve your resume, reach out to me.
