I’ve been teaching English language arts for 11 years around the globe, and one thing I hate seeing are well-meaning people from various career backgrounds deciding to teach English without taking the time to understand what a means to do the job well. Watch my video where I discuss what English teachers should be mindful of when teaching ELA in its full capacity. With a little sass, I say, you are not a bookclub facilitator, you must familiarize yourself with the standards and benchmarks and make sure students practice the required skills, and actually teach them. 😆🤷🏾♀️ #languagearts #ela #english #writing #reading #communication

The load can feel so heavy for English teachers! My first tip- just because you assigned it means it needs a grade 🙊 lol. Instead, you can have them self-check or partner check their understanding 2nd- stagger your classes assignments when you can. If you’re teaching multiple preps, don’t have ALL of them submit essays on the same day. You will cry looking at that monster of a stack 😭 3rd- try 2-point rubrics to streamline your grading and target the skills/standards you are looking for and then skim the rest Share your best tips for other English teachers below! #englishteacher #ela #elateachers #education
