If you are in real estate in Central Ohio there was a lot to celebrate this week: 1) A globally recognized manufacturing project, receiving federal support & securing a major new partnership, which brought renewed confidence to a generational opportunity. 2) A leading global employer declaring that culture is not a birthright- its something that need to be worked at & that the office plays a part in strengthening a company’s culture. 3)The Fed cutting it’s rate by half a point-calming some of the major headwinds facing developers & creating momentum to get back to building. And last but not least- the opening of Butcher & Rose for lunch service-which based on today’s attendance will be one of THE spot for a “downtown power lunch”. The future is bright!

🐣 SoSquared has flown the nest 🐥 After two years in Exchange at Department 's shared space we've moved up to the 4th floor, where the air is crisp. Shared spaces are definitely the best option for those early days, but timing when to transition can be difficult; here's what we considered: ➕ Cohesion - having your own space fosters a strong sense of belonging and unity, making everyone feel more connected. In general it's just more enjoyable coming to the office. ➕ Focus - no more competing for a quiet corner or having meetings in open, noisy spaces. ➕ Whilst we're sharing with another company, we're still able to create our own work atmosphere and tailor the space to everyone's needs, increasing productivity (hopefully). ➕ Somewhere to bring clients - Bringing clients to a space which is ours leaves a much better impression. Think about the difference between taking someone back to your house, or your parents... ➖ Increased cost - shared spaces are always going to be cheaper, especially if you're on an incubator or accelerator programme (A good half-way house is sharing with another company). ➖ Isolation - you meet a lot of other companies in a shared space, which can help with ideation and networking, particularly in those early days. ➖ Flexibility - In a shared space you can always add or remove seats as needed. Dedicated offices get out-grown. We're loving having our own space, but curious whether others have found the same pressure to change, or found shared spaces working for them. And since then, just like this miraculous place, Superbien New York has sailed into a new era of its own - informed by the past but reimagined for the future. We continue to embody the ingenuity and savvy that are central to the Superbien DNA but we are developing and expanding upon the practices that Superbien always upholds. Our female-led team is already bringing gusto, grit and grace to every project we take on, every pitch we present, and every day we step out into this ever-changing city with curiosity and eagerness. So eager in fact that the draw of the Hamptons, the Catskills or even a Brooklyn rooftop is no match for our desire to craft new, exciting work with you. Yes, you! We are ready, willing and able in these summer months to take new meetings, novel RFPs and projects big and small. 15 years ago today, I walked into CloserStill Media for my first day with the business (don’t get excited, it’s not my last day just yet). That CloserStill office at that stage was part of a converted pig farm. There was about 10 employees in a fledgling business, and I had just left my perfectly stable job in the tech market to risk it in events. In the past 15 years, CloserStill has grown from about 10 people to approximately 700, with offices all over the world (none in a pig farm as far as I'm aware). We've gone from about three exhibitions to 120 worldwide and won a stack of awards in the process. A massive part of my working life has been for CloserStill, and I'm very proud of what we have achieved over the years. I believe we have stuck to many of CloserStill’s founding principles and we as a business have developed a shared belief into core values that for most of us have made CloserStill a great place to work. It's really interesting looking at the people around the business and thinking about those who have been and gone during that time. Whenever there is an industry event you can see the amount of massively successful people who have had CloserStill as part of their history. I’ll be honest...it doesn't suit everyone, but I am grateful for what the business has done for me, and very proud of the part CloserStill has played for others.
