Does shark tank lead to a substantial and sustainable uplift in the business of a startup? At least in some cases, it does. Most startups get some visibility bump, as reflected in the search volumes for such brands. See Google search volumes for 4 brands below that appeared in season 3 and had a 'good' episode. This is also corroborated in a 10x initial bump in website traffic for these brands (based on semrush data). The traffic and interest also seems to settle down at a higher level than pre shark tank. As a platform, shark tank is a good visibility hack. Eventually, the fundamentals of the business (category, product, availability, repeat, supply chain, etc) have to make it sustainable!! #sharktank #startups #consumer #venture
Wish more startups revealed actual sales numbers on the night of the airing for transparency. How much of the bump in traffic is being converted to sales would give an accurate picture of the reach and impact
Agreed! I think this applies to every business - the effects of a big marketing push (like Diwali sale, PR activity) will only sustain over time if the fundamentals and operations can keep pace.

1dWhat’s your insight on why 1 (blue line) did twice the rest of the lot and sustained ? Was it base effect or something else Also, any pick on the base lines which defines the % spike.
