I visited the Space Shuttle Discovery exhibit at the Smithsonian Aerial and Space Museum. I think individuals majoring in information technology would definitely benefit from a visit to this museum because it is such an eye-opener. It shows the history of how our society has triumphed over problems. Seeing such innovations will spark curiosity and inspiration within a person to want to understand the inner workings of the spacecraft. Unfortunately, not everyone can come to DC to gaze at these creations, which is why the internet is so important. If one cannot afford to go to the museum in person, they can look it up and read about it; there are even videos on these beautiful machines. People within my major are critical to bridge the gap of the digital divide since we are the ones who create and maintain the connections to the internet. This exhibit, along with its creations and its role within history, shows me its importance, why people should know why things are created, how they are built, plus the challenges they were made to face. It’s a shame that not everyone has access to this knowledge that should be for everyone. Once again, I think individuals within the information technology field/significant help must bridge the digital divide. #DigitalDivide #ArielandSpaceMuseum

My first time posting here. ✌️ But I’d like to share one of my personal projects. I built a little home for my patch designs. I’ve been sharing them mainly on Instagram, but I felt like it would be nice to have them archived somewhere outside of IG’s grid of tiny squares. Designing them grew out of my love and fascination for space exploration and embroidered emblems as a medium. Mission patches symbolize not only insane technological endeavours, their projects also involve dozens, if not hundreds of people, covering often decades of commitment to make these scientific achievements possible. They serve as cultural artifacts, a means of communication, documentation and identity in human spaceflight. With each design I want to create a symbol that encapsulate the mission’s essence. Some are more obvious and prominently depict a spacecraft's shape itself, while other designs incorporate coded elements like scientific goals or exploration targets. madhuthangavelu   55m What to do with the International Space Station(ISS) when the facility is retired?...that seems to be the question hovering over us right now... NASA's imagination(and budget) seem to be running dry? In our Moon book, we suggest creating an International Space Artifacts Museum in a high parking orbit where ISS would be the first exhibit, preserved for generations to come. As so many thought leaders have said, we should find ways to protect and preserve our collective species heritage, not destroy them. And the ISS and observatories like Hubble and JWST have deep symbolism associated with them. Their value that far exceeds the science and technology of our time. Forget the budget. The sheer "elbow grease" that went into bringing the world of nations together to create and maintain the ISS program far exceeds all the budget woes and associated drama. And that is why we have cultural heritage sites and museums around the globe, folks.... to protect and preserve the continuity of thought and creativity of our species and our civilization, lest we forget how we became what we are today... and what our aspirations are for tomorrow...what we hope to be... Our leaders know this, and our architects stand ready to act too!
