This created just the buzz the brand needed. ⭐ Kay Beauty adopted a digital-first approach, benefiting from organic user-generated content and reviews, all thanks to its celebrity reach. ⭐ But let’s not forget, a key strategy for their success was partnering with Nykaa. It provided a strong distribution network and access to a large customer base. Let's explore how. 🤔 What are the input levers to how you feel about a brand? It's what you think when you experience the brand through your sensory organs. What do you see, hear, smell, and feel? Recently, I felt that Mokobara really ticked these boxes with their iconic bright yellow inner lining for their bags, the same ringtone-like music played in every ad video, across products and marketplaces, and the quality you feel when you receive the product. The unboxing experience is amazing, with brilliant packaging and an overall high-quality product. 📦✨ In a market led by legacy brands like VIP Industries Limited, Mokobara did everything they could to differentiate themselves. However, I recently experienced something not so typical of Mokobara. I clicked on an ad that opened into a product page where the stock was unavailable. In a world where high-quality customer experience is the norm, the smallest oversight now seems unacceptable. If the marketing/performance and operations verticals worked together, this would never have happened. 🚫 This, to me, is a problem of Mokobara’s own doing. My experience with the brand has been so good that my expectations of them are also much higher. Isn’t it high time for the brand managers of PepsiCo’s Sting and KTM to take a leaf out of LPU's brand strategy, reshape their brand imagery, and shake off the 'Chapri' label? Recently, I came across an interesting article about two very different brands: one is a raspberry-colored caffeinated drink from a multinational beverage giant, and the other is a premium Austrian motorcycle brand with a serious racing pedigree. The first sells a 250 ml bottle for Rs 20, while the latter’s models start at over a lakh. One is recognized by its distinct red color, the other is famous worldwide for its trademark orange hue. Yet, despite their differences, both brands have increasingly become emblems of the 'chapri' label on social media. This presents a classic Brand Manager's conundrum. I recently had the opportunity to meet Mayur Hola one of the most influential brand leaders, the Brand Head at Swiggy and former Brand Head at OYO, to discuss this very issue and how it was addressed at OYO. He shared valuable lessons on how they tackled the issue, including the metrics they tracked, sharing more details about the Oyo campaign in the comments.
