Don’t judge a book by its cover." A phrase we’ve all heard, yet how often do we fall for the halo or horns effect? First impressions can often mislead us. A polished exterior might overshadow shortcomings, while a less polished appearance might hide incredible talent and potential. This happens in everyday life—and even more critically in professional settings, like hiring. How many great candidates have been overlooked due to snap judgments? How many opportunities have been missed because we focused on appearance rather than abilities? Here’s a better way forward: 1️⃣ Take time to assess individuals for their skills, potential, and character. 2️⃣ Be conscious of biases that could cloud fair judgment. 3️⃣ Create environments where people feel comfortable being their authentic selves. Every person brings a story, a skill, or a perspective that might surprise you. Let’s ensure we evaluate them based on what truly matters, not what’s immediately visible. Let’s move beyond appearances and embrace potential—because the real magic often lies beneath the surface. What do you think? How can we combat this bias in professional and personal spaces?
And still, everybody does
That was a good post where you stole my 9 minutes and 52 seconds 🙂

3dHow many managements we work with has this culture?. i loved the way, how the character paul dexter accepts james, when he gets to know his ability. I remember working with one such man, Dr. G. Shridhar, who is currently the owner of Deeksha. I joined him as a paper grader in the year 1999 - 2000 . Once i came late to the office ( instead of coming at 8 am, I came at 1. pm), in fact i had intimated him that i am going to the university library and will reach soon ( by 11 am). When he met me opening the door, he just smiled at me and then asked me to meet him in his cabin. First question he asked is, what happened, is everything fine. I replied to him that upon going to library, I found a few books which will really help our institute to grow and i showed him the xeroxed copies of the front page of the book , that i got from the university. I thought he will start giving me a big lecture, but he was amazing, he listened to me and then appreciated my interest in the growth of the institute. Though it was not my job, but still i went to do it , he was happy with me. I did the same thing, while i was working at madanapalle in a college known as MITS, but since i came late from bangalore, they considered it as half day leave.
