On the eve of well-being in law week, this is a helpful reminder. Well-being initiatives focused on stress management for the sake of maximizing our performance or our employees performance don't solve the root problems caused by harmful norms in the legal profession. When peak performance is merely a happy byproduct of the well-being initiatives, we will be closer to solving the underlying issues that cause distress amongst lawyers.

Albeit humorous - there is a major lesson to learn here. Failure is never the fault of the intern. Interns have one purpose - gain real world experience from professionals who will mentor them and leaders who will nurture their development. While this is how many naive accidents can happen, the failure lies in not having safe guards in place to detect, prevent, and if needed automatically correct the failure. I’d argue anyone with experience in software must agree with me on this perspective. Leadership comes in many forms, but should always demonstrate ownership for their domain. Any leader who blames their team for a failure is failing their team. Focus on the mission of the team. Institute a culture of learning and innovation. Enable them to do the right thing and promote them doing it. Enrich them with a safe to fail environment by making sure failure happens without real consequences to users, the business, the team, or their career. Just my opinion….open to hear yours!
