Saudi Arabia’s logistics transformation highlighted on Saudi National Day On the 94th celebration of Saudi National Dayy, the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services reflected on the central role that Saudi Arabia has played in the journey of the international logistics sector, and shared how Saudi Vision 2030 is driving the creation of the next generation of logistics within the Kingdom. This comes ahead of the Global Logistics Forum (GLF), which the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services is hosting in Riyadh from October 12-14, 2024, at the King Abdullah Financial District.   Bringing together more than 100 speakers, including ministers, industry experts and private sector champions, GLF 2024 promises to tackle the industry’s most pressing challenges and uncover new opportunities. Held under the esteemed patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, this landmark event is poised to foster unprecedented international collaboration, reshaping the future of the global trade and supply chain landscape. Moreover, the 2024 Agility Emerging Markets Logistics Index continues to rank Saudi Arabia highly across several key measures and shows the impact of the agenda set forth by Saudi Vision 2030.   Saudi Arabia ranks sixth for International Opportunities in the logistics sector, moving up three places from 2023.   In Business Fundamentals and Digital Readiness, Saudi Arabia ranks third and sixth respectively, demonstrating the strong standing of the Kingdom in global measures logistics leadership. The Kingdom has spent 4.5 billion SAR to upgrade ports across Saudi Arabia, enabling this growth and unlocking future potential. In aviation, tens of billions of dollars worth of commitments have been sealed for new aircraft.   At the Future Aviation Forum, held in Riyadh in May earlier this year, the biggest aircraft order in Saudi history was signed when Saudia Group announced an order for 105 confirmed Airbus aircraft for its group of airlines.   Beyond aircraft, significant investments in Saudi Arabia’s airports, led by the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), will ensure that both passengers and freight will seamlessly connect from across the globe in Saudi Arabia. Underpinning the significant investments in the logistics sector is a growing enthusiasm across Saudi Arabia to become part of it.   New business registrations in the sector increased by a remarkable 76 per cent in Q2 2024, the fastest-growing sector in Saudi Arabia, and a reflection of the desire to contribute to the future of logistics in Saudi Arabia and globally.

🌐 Saudi Arabia is investing SR1 trillion (US$267 billion) to become a global logistics hub by 2030! At the Global Logistics Forum 2024, Saudi Arabia announced their SR1 trillion investment. Minister Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser announced that SR200 billion (US$53 billion) has already been deployed, boosting the Kingdom's ranking by 17 spots in the World Bank's Logistics Performance Index. Al-Jasser emphasised that there is no better location for the Global Logistics Forum than at the crossroads of Asia, Europe, and Africa, the heart of global connectivity, where over 40% of the world's GDP can be reached within six hours. As part of Saudi Vision 2030, this plan focuses on infrastructure, sustainability, and connectivity. In the article linked below, Marco Mejia, the acting CEO of King Salman International Airport Development Co., shared his thoughts on the partnership with ewpartners. He commented: “Through our collaboration with ewpartners, we aim to enhance the Kingdom’s logistical infrastructure, increase operational efficiency, and create new opportunities that contribute to economic growth in the Kingdom and the region.” Jerry Li, founder and managing partner of ewpartners highlighted the airport’s location and regional commercial capabilities as drivers of growth in logistics and e-commerce. Agility, a global supply chain services provider, has announced the launch of the final phase of its expansion at Agility Logistics Parks in Riyadh.  The SR250 million project will add 100,000 square meters of Class A warehousing, increasing the total space to 551,368 square meters. The first phase is set to open in the first quarter of 2025, generating nearly 300 new jobs for Saudi nationals. Michel Saab, global CEO of Agility Logistics Parks commented on the Riyadh expansion project: “By building world-class warehousing, we are able to provide critical infrastructure that is helping to make the Kingdom a global and regional logistics hub.” With such strategic investments and partnerships, Saudi Arabia is on track to become a major force in global trade, fostering economic growth, sustainability, and new opportunities for private sector involvement.
