Cybersecurity is a critical concern for Health and Social Care, ranked as the UK's 5th most attacked sector by the National Cyber Security Centre. Recent high-profile attacks, like the one on the University of Manchester, highlight the severe consequences for care services. To fortify cybersecurity, adopting NHS DSPT standards, encryption, multi-factor authentication, and proactive vulnerability testing is essential. Personal example: in my own work with healthcare IT, ensuring that software providers implement robust security features has proven invaluable. Thoughts? Such attacks can be particularly devastating, given the immediate possibility of jeopardising patient safety and putting lives at risk. Healthcare represents such a tempting target to malicious cyber actors that it is imperative to develop robust cybersecurity infrastructure to counter these threats, and to protect the systems providing critical care for those most in need. https://lnkd.in/g45qsqqi I have spoken with enough experts and affected companies the past several weeks to realize how significant, and serious, Healthcare cyberattacks have become. Just look at the devastating hack of Change Healthcare. It is downright scary and getting worse. Cybercriminals are being encouraged to specifically attack healthcare organizations, as they are vulnerable. And there is growing expectations that Healthcare organizations become even more accountable for cyber defense. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is “encouraging all providers, technology vendors, and members of the health care ecosystem to double down on cybersecurity, with urgency”. We also need to recognize that cybersecurity is an “investment”, not merely a “cost center”. Onix Security; Hunter Lynne
