Looking forward to hosting this event in a few weeks. Will be great to share networking advice with the trainees. What's the best networking tip you have/you've heard?! We were chatting about this last night at the Sheffield Young Professionals October Drinks Social. A couple that came up were: 📝 When telling people your job don't just say one word e.g. Lawyer, Teacher, Engineer. Give a lil extra something to help who you're talking to think of a follow up question & keep the convo flowing. 📝 What to do when you're stuck in one of *those* convos - always have a drink whether it's a pint of beer or a pint of water, so when it's finished you can excuse yourself and head to the bar and reenter the room ready to start a new conversation 📝 No matter how long you've been networking, walking into a room of people who are already talking is always super awkward, you're not the only one feeling a bit nervous. Take a breath and introduce yourself to someone and the hard bit is done! Drop yours in the comments 👇
