Exciting projects ahead 🚀 Elli has teamed up with the airborne wind turbine manufacturer EnerKite GmbH and the Technische Universität Braunschweig. Together, they are presenting today at the Hannover Messe a groundbreaking research, that could enable the energy-autonomous charging for electric vehicles in the future. 🪁 + 🌬 = ⚡ Here's how it works: High-tech kites "harvest" the strong and steady winds blowing at high altitudes and convert these into electricity. The energy is stored in Elli's Flexpole fast-charger and can be used to charge EVs. The collaboration between EnerKíte's base-load-capable airborne wind turbines and Elli's technology enables grid-independent and constant power supply, even in remote regions. The Elli Flexpole can be installed easily and flexibly as a fast charging station and, thanks to the integrated battery system, can be connected to the low-voltage grid without the need for a special transformer or expensive construction work. The project is funded by Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung and coordinated at the Campus Open Hybrid LabFactory in Wolfsburg. It is cheaper to drive #electricvehicles than internal combustion engine cars. We have already reached the impact point where, if you look at the whole life cycle of an electric vehicle versus an internal combustion engine, it’s actually cheaper to drive the electric vehicle. Some customers have calculated that they spend 3 euros for 100 kilometers. They have paid off their solar roofs, integrated with the grid, and are charging accordingly. It’s an exciting moment, and it opens up a lot of travel opportunities.
