Impact investing is helping make this shift possible, from reducing e-waste to funding conservation-focused businesses that put sustainable resource use first. The Overlooked Social Dimension in Carbon Financing & Climate Based Investment Projects: A Critical Perspective In the race to scale, a critical oversight is emerging. Most of the carbon financing and investment projects are often ignoring the social vertical—the primary stakeholder of these investments. While the environmental impact of these projects is often celebrated, the aggressive pursuit of scale frequently sidelines the most crucial pillar—social capital, the bedrock of long-term sustainability. This oversight risks leading substantial investments to ultimately yield negligible net benefits post-lifecycle. Aggressive expansion diverted people's institutions and ownership fixed on long-term success. Social capital—concept, trust, networks, and local empowerment—is essential for the common goal of these large-sized investments. Investors and global leaders, CSOs must recalibrate their strategies to ensure that social dimensions are not just an afterthought but a core component of their investments. Prioritize—social capital, ensure equitable benefit sharing, and foster building a sustainable community. Only by integrating these elements can forward truly sustainable and impactful carbon financing portfolios. Without integrating people, we only undermining the global mission towards dreaming future. Let’s make our investments count for both the planet and its people. #CarbonOffsetting #Sustainability #CommunityEngagement #ClimateAction #ClimateChange #GreenFinancing #SustainableLivelihood

Close to a third of our investments have had dual environmental and social impact goals – we're seeing rapid growth under this theme and are keen to collaborate with partners who are also looking at solutions and business models for investing in a Just Transition. Our role in growing the social impact investing market is well-positioned to tackle the challenges that come with transitioning to net-zero emissions, including: 📈 The massive investment needed to upgrade infrastructure, retrofit homes, develop new technologies and help nature recover. 🎯 Proper delivery through new business models, jobs and skills that tackle some of the hardest challenges within decarbonisation 📣 Achieving community buy-in as net-zero relies on widespread behaviour change, and on communities being willing participants.
