🎭 Skit of Tips Client: Hi Ash, 1st of November, the best month! 🤫. We coming down to end of year, you got any financial tips or nuggets 🎯 as you like to call it , that you could drop to help me start the month off? Ash: 😅 Yes! Best Month 😶🌫️, ohh and yes im glad you asked about some tips Ash: So here is a nugget 🧐 : One of things I periodical do is remind my clients there is something called 🌌 *Times and Seasons*. November in Barbados is usual a month of culture and a lot 🔵 patriotic activities 🟡. So we general and unknowingly spend more on things like petrol ⛽ in island tours, cooking gas for the bakers, food items outside of the supermarket like conkies, sweetbreads 🥖ect and also bajan national events 🎟️. Its like a second August sorta speak 🙃 . The key is to be *aware*❗ Ash: So it would be wise and mindful to budget for the extra so you don't over spend. When a particular month falls into the category of 🌌 *Times and Seasons* we tend to spend more 💸 without realizing and it diverts us from our savings goal. This causes the next month to be much harder because we have not planned our spending correctly. Client: 🤔 Wah I neva thought about it like that ya know. You now give me something to think about. Thanks Ash. I coming back again for more tips this month ya hear! Ash: No problem, you know I got you. Financially wise and insurance covered 😎 #FinancialPitStop #SagicorAdvisor #DramaDialogue

Attention People with Lived Experience and those who support them who can carry this message. It is possible for advocates to accept generous compensation respecting their value. It can be scary giving up benefits like Social Security, Cal Fresh (food stamps), General Relief (cash). Do it anyway! The disclaimer is to seek advice and plan. I recommend legal consulting. I recommend talk therapy to assist with the contemplation and transition. Every scenario is different. If consulting and advocacy will bring in at least the equivalent of your benefits, then you are half ready. Budgeting and planning scenarios will let you know if you are fully ready. Housing, medical benefits, and more may be affected. If you need it, then you need it. If you don't, then you don't. If you are not ready, then that is perfectly fine. Do not stay trapped if you are ready, willing, able, and capable. Work through the fear! Do it anyway! Take the leap! Pop out! If we did it, then so can you! Be encouraged! This video features... Thomas: former SSDI recipient Tiffany: former CalFresh and GR recipient 🎶 Song: Do It Anyway by Erica Mason Transparency: Thomas has 100+ suits and sports jackets. All gifts! One burgundy one from me...real nice from Groupon 🤣. My dress is from Temu. I changed the background on this photo and did some editing like adding fullness to my hair. We're regular people wishing we could afford to buy a home and glad we can pay rent. #DoItAnyway #TakeTheLeap #PopOut #WeanOffBenefits #EquityIsEsteemingExperienceAsExpertise #ChangingTheNarrative #ShiftingTheLens #BringYourHeartToWork❤️ #LivedExperienceMovement #AdvisoryBoards #LivedExperienceAdvisoryBoard #AdvisoryBoard #AdvisoryCouncil #ExperienceIsExpertise #Partnership #PartneringWithPeopleWithLivedExperience #Allyship #LivedExperience #Inclusivity #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs #LivedExpertise #Collaboration #Consulting #HirePeopleWithLivedExperience #PayThemLivingWages #PreventHomelessness Thomas Allen Smith

Whether it's the Prime Minister or the new intake of MPs, accepting lavish freebies is damaging to public trust in politicians which is at an all time low. Westminster’s “freebie” culture risks: 👉 creating actual or perceived conflicts of interest. 👉 allowing undue influence and giving vested interests privileged access to decision-makers. Tone from the top matters which is why the £100,000 accepted by Keir Starmer in gifts and hospitality is rightly facing scrutiny. But the new Modernisation Committee should also be reviewing whether the rules on accepting gifts or hospitality for MPs and Ministers are too generous, too vague, and too open to abuse. Last year, former MP Scott Benton claimed some firms put low values on tickets to avoid transparency. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eynh-dCk While the civil service is not immune from hospitality problems – in 2016 UK National Audit Office found real weaknesses in departments’ oversight and controls on gifts and hospitality especially for senior officials – public servants have far stricter rules. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eXxpqKtv If MPs and Ministers are really to serve the public, the rules should be tightened to set thresholds for gifts and hospitality, as happens in the EU Parliament, and there should be a stronger presumption that gifts and hospitality should be rejected except in narrowly defined circumstances. #gifts #hospitality #freebies

Mark Drakeford and his cabinet rattled through topics like devolution, Eat Out to Help Out, care homes and lockdown. CARDIFF — Two police officers stand outside a featureless low-rise building, set back from the ring road behind a chain link fence. It’s the only signal to passers-by that anything unusual is happening at the Mercure Hotel, whose typical guests are hen parties, French rugby fans and business conferences. But it’s here, three miles north of Cardiff, that decisions made by the Welsh government during the Covid pandemic are being scrutinised at oddly breakneck speed. The Mercure Hotel itself was refurbished in December 2019, only to spend much of the next year vacant: three months after it reopened, Britain’s hospitality sector was shut down entirely save for the few sites used to quarantine travellers. Four years on, more than 12,000 people have died from Covid in Wales. But after the initial restrictions of early 2020, the country saw an influx of tourists to holiday destinations like Barmouth and Aberdyfi, fueling transmission spikes as people fled the claustrophobia of a three-month lockdown in garden-less flats. Wales’s Labour-led government, helmed by first minister Mark Drakeford, struggled to make decisions while beholden to the UK government, blaming (reasonably or not) Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak for Wales’ limited powers as a devolved nation. https://lnkd.in/dnX7xC-7
Did Wales’ only Covid inquiry answer the key questions?

There's a brilliant article outlining the pitfalls of simply hiking taxes to patch up the UK's economic woes. I've linked it in the comments, but here's my take: Imagine you're the life of the party—your soirees are legendary. We're talking cabaret acts, chocolate fountains, and dancers that would make even the Great Gatsby blush. Everyone who's anyone clamors for an invite. But then, you start making your wealthier guests chip in more and more for the festivities. Why? Because your parties have become increasingly lavish, and you've lost control of your spending. You hired the wrong staff, and your security policy is practically non-existent. To plug the financial hole, you decide to impose an 'exit fee' on your well-heeled guests. Want to leave the party early? Pay up. Guess what happens? They stop coming. Soon, your legendary parties are a shadow of their former glory. The chocolate fountain is replaced by a Colin the Caterpillar cake, the cabaret is now the Australian breakdancer from the Olympics, and the beautiful people are nowhere to be seen—just those who look like they've been on a bus all day, there for any free booze they can get. The UK is that party. So, before we start charging more for the party, maybe we should focus on not letting the champagne flow like water and actually having better security. #freelancing #tax #UKgovernment #exitfee
