Sustainability (Environmental,Social and Governance ) is at the heart of Public Contracts in Cameroon.The Lom Pangar Project and the Mekim are cases in point. Environmental with regards to these projects had to do with evaluating the impact of the project like limiting carbon emissions as much as possible,advocating for biodiversity by protecting the fauna and flora.The 2024 Finance Law of the Republic of Cameroon has instituted some fines for non compliance with environmental prescriptions.The Ministry of Environment and that of Forestry are doing a commendable job. Social had to do with the respect of labour legislation,compensation and rehabilitation for public utility,respect of the minimum wage and seeing to it that child labour is not used.Equally some contracts are reserved for community organizations,NGOs and Civil Society.Gender is also taken into consideration.The provision of social amenities like schools,hospitals etc.The Ministries of Labour ,Social Affairs,Public Contracts etc are doing a good job. Governance has to do with maturing the project to ensure transparency, ward the risk of corruption and rendering account as much as possible...
