I recently had the opportunity to attend the Digital Summit Islamabad, organized by GSMA and supported by leading industry partners such as Jazz, Zong CMPak Ltd, TikTok and HNL- (Hitech Networks Pvt. Ltd) The event was a melting pot of innovation, technology, and insightful discussions, bringing together thought leaders and industry experts to explore the future of digital transformation in Pakistan. It's fascinating to witness the transformation of conference organization in Thailand. We're moving away from traditional, one-way communication models towards more engaging formats like TED-style talks, panel discussions, and debates, often enhanced by interactive QR codes for real-time feedback. The emergence of new players, such as media companies, is reshaping the industry. The Standard and Creative Talks are prime examples of organizations that are elevating conference experiences. This shift is driving innovative business and communication models. Moldova Digital Summit takeaways: for those obsessed with standard LinkedIn reports. Warning: personal not AI-generated opinion below, where the words like ‘insights’ are prohibited. 🔥 The best outcome of the event - great PR for Moldova. It showed again how attractive Moldova is as a tech country. With lots of international traction, it will be easier to pitch the country from now on. 🔥 Organizers did a great job, in a short period they managed to make the Summit look professional and attractive. Proud to know you! ❌ The launch of EVO - a government-developed all-in-one app - was a failure. Launched with great pathos, it turned out not to be functional to a big extent. Being an app version of MCabinet, it added some important functions like ‘My documents’ which is not working even 5 days later. Other sections showed the wrong information - for example, it says I have not crossed any borders in the past 3 years and have no businesses opened. Get me right - I think it’s a great step towards digitalization and it WILL be a success, but later. But when the government launches a state-developed app with such a buzz at a government-organized conference - it should be tested before. 🔥 People love communication and the Summit gave a great opportunity for that. We spent much more time chatting than listening to presentations. So do we need the main stages? For sure - we need a good reason to come to the events :) ❗Let’s make panel discussions great again! They should be vivid and the key is ‘discussion’, not just making your pre-prepared speeches. Just saying. 🔥 I was amazed to see quite a number of developers attending the event. But the paradigm has changed - many are looking for new career opportunities. ✍️ And there is one more important outcome for me and the #MDC team: we gained valuable experience that we’ll use when preparing the biggest TECH event of the year - Moldova DevCon - that will happen November 1-2 at Chisinau Arena! The announcement was made at the unveiling of the company's hybrid monthly magazine also called DIGITAL AFRICA, held virtually in Abuja, FCT, Nigeria, today. At the occasion, Chairman of DAGC Limited, Dr. Evans Woherem, commended the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) for it's full involvement and support for the tech show which was first held in Abuja in 2013. Dr. Woherem noted that, "Since Nigeria established its own ministry of tech back in 2011, the ministers in charge have warmly embraced and supported our self-imposed mission to spearhead the transformation, modernization and growth of Africa's tech industry, through this continental ICT event." "It all started with Dr. Mrs. Omobola Johnson the then Minister of Communications Technology (2011-2015) who declared open the inaugural edition of Digital Africa Conference and Exhibition in April 2013 in Abuja. Shittu was just as supportive of the tech show; bringing the immediate past Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, to attend one of the editions.
