♻️Stale-seed bed technique:♻️ 🔺A new method of managing weeds has been standardized. 🔹In this technique, two weeks in advance of cotton sowing, ridges and furrows were prepared and irrigated, leading to germination of weed seeds. 🔸One week after irrigation, mixture of Pendimethalin and Glyphosate was sprayed; the former killed germinating weeds up to one month by the residual action, and the germinated weeds were killed by glyphosate. 🔹Thus, both cotton and intercrops could escape weed competition. #UPDATE ON TOMATO FARMLAND CULTIVATION Last week, I visited the tomato farm to monitor the land preparation activities as we gear up for transplanting. After creating the ridges for planting, we’ve been hard at work laying the groundwork for the solar-powered drip irrigation system as sustainable agriculture is at the heart of IjebuMarket. One critical task we’re tackling is manual stump removal. Despite the efficiency of our machines, some stubborn stumps remain, and these need to be cleared manually to ensure: Smooth ridges for laying mulch without injuries or perforations. A weed-free environment to support optimal tomato growth, easier maintenance and better overall yield during the crop's life cycle. I’ve attached a video to give you a closer look of the farmland fully cleared of stomps and ready for the next stage. Every step we take now ensures a strong foundation for a bountiful harvest. Happy to share a recently published paper in Crop Protection Journal (NAAS: 8.80; IF: 2.8) CA and SDI practices reduced the total weed density which might lead to more weed suppression in both rice and wheat.
