#EnergyStorage is set to play a pivotal role in revolutionising our #EnergyInfrastructure. The European Commission has targeted a 90% share of EU electricity from renewables by 2040 – mostly solar and wind - but further initiatives will be needed for networks, storage and flexibility. By investing in innovative storage solutions, we can optimise the integration of renewables and maintain grid stability. Embracing advanced storage technologies will not only propel us towards a cleaner, more sustainable energy future but also ensure a reliable and efficient power supply for generations to come. #RenewableFuture #EuropeanCommission #RenewablesTarget

This is a significant result to come out of the Scottish Solar Grid Forum, attended by Solar Energy Scotland, Scottish Government, SSE Distribution and Transmision, SP Energy Networks Distribution and Transmission, Ofgem and many other grid stakeholders, aimed at identifying and overcoming Scottish Specific barriers to deploying more cheap, clean solar energy. There's much more work to do and collaboration in this forum will help us to achive more, faster.
🏴 We're thrilled to share that SSEN Transmission has increased the threshold for Transmission Impact Assessments (TIAs) in the north of Scotland from 50kW to 200kW, paving the way for faster and more efficient connections of renewable generation projects. This significant change will accelerate the integration of solar energy into the grid, thanks to the efforts of SSEN and Solar Energy Scotland (SES). This update will not only accelerate the integration of solar energy into the grid but also contribute to Scotland's broader climate goals. By streamlining the connection process, SES and SSE Renewables are working together to create a more sustainable and resilient energy future. #SolarEnergy #NetZero #Scotland

A bold leap towards our #NetZero future—Solar Energy UK's 50GW ambition signals massive growth for the renewable sector and a sustainable UK. With the current trajectory to boast 20GW in solar generation capacity and 8GW in #EnergyStorage by year-end, there's a palpable buzz of #innovation and commitment in the air. But there's more work to be done, and that's where their newly released manifesto comes into play. It outlines an ambitious #Roadmap to 50GW by 2030, underscoring the need for a substantial increase in both solar power capacity and zero-carbon energy storage systems. This would align the UK with its target of 70GW by 2035 and cement its status as a #GreenEnergy leader. #SolarEnergy #SustainableFuture #UKSolarBoom

Did you know? By the end of 2023, more than 11,000 #energyprojects were in interconnection queues in the #UnitedStates, waiting for a green-light from regional grid operators to proceed with construction. According to University of California, Berkeley the amount of generation capacity entering queues each year has risen by more than 550% from 2015 to 2023, with the average queue duration rising from 3 years to 5 years in the same period. #batterystorage projects made up 24-34 % of the projects in the queue. Wind projects had the highest wait times at the end of 2023 with an average age of 40 months (3.33 years). Overall, reducing the time that these renewable energy projects spend in queues can accelerate the transition to a low-carbon energy future. #implementing #batterystorage #renewableenergy #energystorage

In an era driven by an urgent need for sustainable energy solutions, battery energy storage systems (BESS) have become increasingly vital. Recent data shows that solar photovoltaic (PV) and wind power will account for half of all global power generation by 2035, and the inherent variability of renewable power generation requires storage systems to balance the supply and demand of the power grid. A net-zero future requires stabilising renewable energy grids, which necessitates huge advancements in battery technology and implementation.
