We've published the latest blog following the July Connections Delivery Board that I chaired on the (confusingly held on 1 August!). With the Government's mission for the UK to have clean power by 2030, we welcomed that the ESO presented two 'going further' options on its ongoing connections reform (TMO4+). It is important that the new connections process is reformed effectively so that it can deliver the right projects in the right places as quickly as possible. The two options are: 1) Technology criteria - to ensure GB has the right mix of generation technologies to meet net zero. The Board provided overall broad support in exploring aligning any criteria with the 2030 clean power mission. 2) Financial criteria - to strengthen the need for projects to demonstrate viability through financial commitments, ensuring only viable, committed projects can remain in the queue The ESO will continue its hard work on this and return in September with fully formed recommendations for the board to consider. I welcome this - it is right that Connections reform is sufficiently effective first time. https://lnkd.in/eNTh2GJi
