🇪🇺 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆-𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘀! 🇪🇺 If you know of roles or internships in the field, I’d appreciate your tips. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝗜 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲? I spent the past 5 months at 𝗨𝗡 𝗗𝗘𝗦𝗔, working with the Financing for Sustainable Development Office. One of my key takeaways from the Development Cooperation Forum: Development cooperation is more efficient and effective when donors engage in dialogue and coordinate! Alongside that, I relaunched the 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 in New York with my colleague Djamila. Despite the UN’s values, the Secretariat ranks last in intern satisfaction, thanks to unpaid internships. Interns are left relying on national scholarships (if they exist), family support (if they’re lucky), or debt (if they’re not). This undermines diversity and opportunity - reform is overdue, and other entities like ILO, WHO, WIPO, and UNOPS prove it’s possible. After wrapping up my time in New York, I officially closed another chapter: graduating cum laude with a 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀. It’s now time to look forward and start preparing for Brussels - any leads are much appreciated! If you are interested in what reforms the FII recommends and where internship programs need to be improved feel free to read and share our internship report: https://lnkd.in/dWTsPcnq
