In search of excellence…. Far too often we allow ourselves to settle for less than our best. Usually this is easier to point out in others than ourselves. Take our office lawn crew for instance. It’s really been bugging me that they just let this weed keep growing bigger and bigger without doing anything about it. But it got me thinking what weeds do I have that need attention? The interesting thing about weeds is they grow naturally without any intention. If you don’t cut them or kill then they will just keep growing. Let’s pull and kill some of our own weeds so we can grow some fruit! #excellence #personalgrowth #createabetterway

Want to know some of the best places to fly fish, and get great tacos afterward? Well, then Scott Papich is someone you should know -- while he rarely reveals his fishing spots, he will tell you all about the tacos. Scott joined TrackFly as the VP of Market Intelligence not just because of his experience with data analytics, but also because he fell in love with our mission to support specialty retailers and their partner brands. Scott has worked in the world of market & financial data for many years, and he’s had the opportunity to help brands from numerous outdoor verticals, such as bicycling, running, outdoor soft goods, and even some up-and-coming nutrition products. However, Scott says that out of all the industries he’s worked in, fly fishing is the most fun! And the fly fishing specialty retail channel has never been analyzed the way TrackFly is doing it now. Scott currently lives in Colorado, but when he visits the TrackFly headquarters in Utah he finds time for tacos at Facil Taqueria. On his bucket list is a fly fishing trip to New Zealand; but for now, he has at least one very secluded trout stream he escapes to. And despite our efforts at bribery, he refuses to speak its name or divulge its exact location; it’s that special. We’re excited to have Scott on the team as he has made such an impact in helping our customers better understand the new industry data available through the TrackFly platform. #trackfly #outdorindustry #employeehighlight #teamculture #startup #indsutrydata

Today is International Carrot Day, a chance to celebrate our favourite orange vegetable. To help you celebrate here are a few fun facts about carrots from the British Carrot Association: · We Brits eat our way through £290 million or 700,000 tonnes worth of carrots every year – that’s approximately 100 carrots per person. · Each year 22 billion seeds are planted in Britain, producing around 100 carrots per year for every member of the population. · The total area in Britain planted with carrots each year is 9000ha – double the size of Holland’s carrot production area. That’s 2000 times bigger than the roof area of the new Wembley Stadium or the equivalent of 18,000 football pitches. · The World’s Longest Carrot was grown by Joe Atheron from Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire in 2007. The carrot was measured in at 5.84 metres, over 19 foot long. · The World’s Heaviest Carrot was grown by Peter Glazebrook from Newark, Nottinghamshire in 2014 and weighed 20 pounds (9.07 kg). · If you laid all the carrots grown in this country in one year end to end they would reach 2.3 million kilometres – that’s two and a half return trips to the moon. If you're a carrot farmer and need specialist nutrient formulations to boost growth, give Grotech Production a call. We could develop one just for you.

THE WILD HORSE RULE Team Wild Horse "Every team seems to agree upon something as a majority. This Team Wild Horses are often causing corporate behavior that could weaken the team’s effectiveness in some ways. Team Wild Horses are found by listening to common themes the team has about themselves" The Wild Horse Rule, a concept by Siegfried Lange (2024), suggests that we often hold on to negative self-beliefs, extending its impact beyond the individual to the collective. When a group of individuals, a team, shares a common negative perception about themselves, it becomes a “Team Wild Horse”. These shared assumptions, often unspoken, can significantly hinder a team’s performance. Unlike individual Wild Horses, Team Wild Horses manifest as shared beliefs about the team's capabilities or external perceptions. For instance, a team might believe they are “unapproachable” or “lack credibility”. These collective thoughts, while potentially rooted in reality, can become self-fulfilling prophecies, limiting the team’s potential. Researchers like Carol Dweck (2006) emphasize the importance of mindset in shaping outcomes. A team with a fixed mindset (believing their abilities are static) is more susceptible to Team Wild Horses. Conversely, a growth mindset, fostering belief in the team’s ability to develop and improve, can counter these negative assumptions. Similarly, Amy Edmondson's (1999) work on psychological safety emphasizes the need for open dialogue and trust within teams to overcome such hurdles. Teams need to encourage open discussions, active listening, and a culture of psychological safety to help them identify and challenge these limiting beliefs, paving the way for greater collaboration and innovation. References Dweck, C. S. (2006). Mindset: The new psychology of success. Random House. Edmondson, A. C. (1999). Psychological safety and learning behavior in work teams. Administrative Science Quarterly, 44(2), 350-383. Lange, S. (2024). The Laws of OUR Nature, 94.

𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗱 𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗶𝘀𝗵? 🐟 My Portuguese roots definitely align me more with the Nordic cold-water cod, especially for gastronomical reasons. 😏 Recently, my curiosity about the origins of the term 'catfishing' got me thinking about our roles in organizations. Originally, catfish were used to keep codfish active during live transportation in fishing boats, ensuring they arrived fresh at the market. The more active and aggressive catfish stimulated the codfish to move, preventing them from becoming static and losing value. Although the term has evolved to describe deceptive online personas, the original concept provides valuable insights into organizational dynamics. Are you the #catalyst, stirring things up, or the one staying #sharp because of the disruption? Embracing these roles can drive #innovation and prevent complacency. Businesses benefit from having their own 'catfish'—those individuals who challenge the status quo and keep everyone on their toes. Food for thought as I navigate new waters...(as a catfish🐟) 😉 #BusinessInsights #Innovation #EmbraceChange"

Goat Number 3 * The Missing Goat, "Goat no 3"... wonderful story, please read* It all started one lazy Sunday afternoon in a small town near Toronto in Canada. Two school-going friends had a crazy idea. They rounded up three goats from the neighborhood and painted the numbers *1, 2 & 4* on their sides. That night they let the goats loose inside their school building. The next morning, when the authorities entered the school, they could smell something was wrong. They soon saw goat droppings on the stairs and near the entrance and realized that some goats had entered the building. A search was immediately launched and very soon, the three goats were found. But the authorities were worried, where was goat No. 3? They spent the rest of the day looking for goat No.3. The school declared classes off for the students for the rest of the day. The teachers, helpers, guards, canteen staff, boys were all busy looking for the goat No. 3, which, of course, was never found. Simply because it did not exist. Those among us who inspite of having a good life are always feeling a "lack of fulfilment" are actually looking for the elusive, missing, non-existent Goat No.3. Whatever the area of complaint or dissatisfaction, relationship, job-satisfaction, finance, achievements, ...... An absence of something is always larger than the presence of many other things. Let's Stop worrying about goat No.3 and enjoy the life...Life would be so much happier without the worries... And don't let the non existent imaginary goat number 3 waste your time and happiness. Enjoy life with what you have…
