Recently, I had a pleasure to attend #theNTWKSummit24. Around 300 attendees during two days of key notes, panel discussions, workshops on The Future of #Platforms, Business #Ecosystems, #Circularity, #Sustainability. It was nice to see old friends and make new connections. Thank you all for taking time with me, sharing your insight and enthusiasm! Special thanks to Marina Planas and TheNTWK | Digital Business Models #dreamteam for organising yet another great event for knowledge and network building! 📍 The summit theme says it all: We are moving away from the arena of Competition to that of #Collaboration. One based on ecosystem approach that allows sustainability to be a strategic focus, and value chain stakeholders to develop new business models built on industrial partnerships, #data and #tech, to co-create values for all. 📍20-45% of ecosystems fail during the launch, scale and maturity phases, chiefly due to insufficient problem to solve, wrong ecosystem configuration, weak governance, poor execution and lack of defensibility. 📍 To cultivate a mindset and culture for ecosystem success, leadership needs to be prepared to “just do it”. Standards and guidelines also help ensure coherent implementation across the organisation. 📍 Long-standing corporates have responsibility and great capacity to facilitate industrial collaboration for sustainability and digital transformation at scale. Lessons learnt shared at the summit suggest there is no one-size-fit-all approach to building platforms and ecosystems within a corporate setting (ABB, BASF, BBVA, CELSA, La Farga, Schneider Electrics, Siemens). 📍Trust, #transparency and alignment in objectives, KPIs, timelines, resources and budgets are key to overcome cultural fit hurdles, and ensure successful deployment of new business models and #CorporateVenture 1️⃣ Regulatory compliance and new process/business opportunities,  2️⃣ Internal core capabilities and external innovations, 3️⃣ Financial and sustainability benefits. (Flying Rhino, SAP). 📍 Increasing pressure from the consumers, regulators, investors, #supplychain partners is also creating the much needed set-up for innovations that enable the new 3Rs economic model and support broader sustainability transition: NNormal (reduce), Ecodicta Fashion Sharing and Switchooo (reuse), @The PostFiber and Circular Rubber Platform (recycle), Commutie (#greenmobility), Seeds Renewables (#energytransition), oxie.earth (biodiversity, sequestration). 📍Key challenges to circular businesses are to obtain sufficient customer interest and ensure adequate #reverselogistic infrastructure, and process management. 📍#ai #blockchain have great potential only if use cases are clear. AI is already being explored to enhance operational efficiency, drive growth, support sustainability (e.g. textile waste sorting at @The PostFiber). Industrial initiatives such as IndesIA also help promote cross #valuechain data management best practices and accelerate use case discovery.

Back to school and back to in person events! 🎉 I love catching up with my fellow techies at Tech Tuesday and the panel did not disappoint yesterday. If your company doesn’t have an #ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) strategy, perhaps now is the time to explore the benefits, of which there are many. This initiative has attracted a staggering $79 billion in global investments across sectors like health tech, cleantech, and more in 2021. Despite its significant funding, the concept often faces ambiguous perceptions, particularly in regions like Southeast Asia where its effectiveness is still under scrutiny. The Tech for Good Institute proposes a framework that emphasizes responsible technology development with built-in security, data protection, and transparency to minimize potential harm. Additionally, skills-based volunteering in this sector allows professionals to apply their technical expertise to transformative projects, thus enhancing societal benefits such as financial inclusion.
