Hypervigilance and exaggerated startle responses are core symptoms of PTSD, often keeping patients in a constant state of high alert. In Prism for PTSD™ studies, patients showed significant improvement in these symptoms 3 months following the completion of treatment. This data highlights the potential of Prism for PTSD as a valuable adjunctive therapy in the management of PTSD. https://lnkd.in/dqWTUG97

Distressing memories and nightmares are among the most persistent and debilitating symptoms of PTSD, often impacting daily functioning and quality of life. In previous studies, Prism for PTSD™ showed significant improvement in reducing these symptoms, with progress observed at 3-month follow-up. This data highlights the potential of Prism for PTSD as a valuable adjunctive therapy in the management of PTSD. https://lnkd.in/dqWTUG97

Narrative Exposure Therapy resulted useless for both PTSD symptoms and quality of life in patients with childhood trauma. These are the authors' own words: "Although the goal in NET is to overcome fear through exposure (and integrate this in the autobiographical memory of the client), the fear system is less activated compared to other trauma-focused therapies; that is, eyes do not have to be close, past term formulation is used and exposure is not repeated until emotional reactivity ceases. Hence, the peak level of distress is likely lower and therefore the within-session change in distress during the exposure, while a previous study showed that within-session change in distress precedes symptom decrease during exposure in patients with childhood trauma (Hoeboer et al. 2022)." My summary: protecting patients from In Session exposure is useless. I would add that overall overprotection is one major problem in psychotherapy. https://lnkd.in/eHJarBpz

A diagnostic questionnaire for childbirth related posttraumatic stress disorder: a validation study - Association of PCL-5 PTSD symptom severity scores with CAPS-5 diagnostic scores The figure represents a scatter plot of the PTSD childbirth-related symptom severity scores obtained on the PCL-5 and CAPS-5. PTSD diagnosis, endorsement (red) or not (blue) per clinician (CAPS-5) evaluation. Missing data for the PCL-5 (less than 0.35% of all data points, 1 item for 2 patients) were handled using the most conservative estimate, that is, computing a sum score of all validated items https://ow.ly/Hqol50SE3Ak

1. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced that it will fund research into psychedelic therapy for veterans with PTSD. 2. The psychedelic drug MDMA (commonly known as ecstasy) has shown promise in easing PTSD symptoms in some veterans when combined with therapy. 3. Congressman Lou Correa and 59 other lawmakers urged the Biden administration to increase research into this treatment, citing the high rate of veteran suicides. 4. The VA will spend $1.5 million on a five-year study to evaluate the use of MDMA-assisted therapy, which is believed to increase emotional openness, reduce fear, and promote introspection during therapy. 5. The Heroic Hearts Project, which helps connect veterans to psychedelic treatments, sees this as a good first step in addressing the mental health needs of veterans. 6. The VA's decision to fund this research is seen as a significant step in overcoming the stigma surrounding the use of psychedelics and exploring new treatment options for PTSD in veterans.
