This chart explains our mission. UK commercial + industrial are being killed by high electricity prices. And prices are projected to remain high. Becoming energy autonomous (generating your own electricity using renewables) not only helps the planet. It saves the financial bottom line. #getyourpowerback #C&I #commercialsolar #climatefinance #solarfinance

Why invest in future energy? We're witnessing changes to 100-year norms in energy. The combustion age is ending, and the electric age has begun. This large-scale disruption represents a unique opportunity for significant investment returns. Today: The Combustion Age - Over 80% of energy comes from fossil fuels. - Over 50% of primary energy is lost in the process of combustion. - Only one-third produces useful work or heat. - Energy is responsible for three-quarters of global GHG emissions. Tomorrow: The Electric Age - Greater efficiency means only half as much primary energy required. - The world needs 2.5x as much electricity and 250x as much energy storage. - 20% less mineral extraction. - More abundant, more secure energy at a lower cost. Chancellor gives £125m to GB Energy 🌍 Yesterday's Autumn Budget revealed £125m for Great British Energy to kick-start clean energy projects. The budget's details caused some debate, but it's clear that this big investment shows a strong push towards the UK becoming a leader in clean energy. Even with some chaos, the positive side is clear - big funding for clean energy, port infrastructure for floating wind, and support for hydrogen projects show serious progress. This is a step forward in reaching our sustainable energy goals and boosting economic growth. #CleanEnergy #Sustainability #UKEnergy

🚨 The End of an Era: Britain’s Last Coal-Fired Power Plant to Close 🚨 Today, the UK shuts down its last coal-fired power station, Ratcliffe-on-Soar, marking the end of 142 years of coal-powered electricity in the nation that sparked the Industrial Revolution—an era shaped by pioneers like James Watt, George Stephenson, and Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The closure is a massive milestone as the UK pushes to generate all its energy from renewable sources by 2030. 🌍💡 In 1990, coal generated 80% of Britain’s electricity. Today, that number is just 1%, with renewable energy sources like wind and solar powering more than half of the country. As we say goodbye to coal, the positive side is the dawn of more sustainable energy solutions. It’s incredible to see how far we've come in the energy transition—proving that bold, ambitious goals are achievable. Onward to a more sustainable future! 🌱⚡ #renewableenergy #cleanenergy #energyefficiency

There is a growing demand for #BESS to support the UK’s transition to #NetZero. As the UK decarbonises, #RenewableEnergy will be our primary source of electricity. But renewables can be intermittent… Battery storage will allow the UK to access clean energy when the sun isn’t shining, and the wind isn’t blowing ⚡ EIG

Really insightful article: “But as renewables have become a more formidable competitor, we are now seeing something different: a large-scale effort to deceive the public into thinking that the alternative products are harmful, unreliable and worse for consumers. And as renewables continue to drop in cost, it will become even more critical for policymakers and others to challenge these attempts to slow the adoption of cheaper and healthier forms of energy.” #climatecrisis #publicpolicy #publichealth #energytransition #climatejustice https://lnkd.in/eyT9Ur7X

There are numerous opportunities across the energy value chain to invest in the energy transition, as long as you take a long-term view and are aware of the numerous headwinds involved transitioning something as fundamental, integrated and complex as energy. As quoted by the AFR "...a paradox facing investors in the energy transition: long-term confidence that the shift to clean energy is inevitable and urgent, even as short-term headwinds such as high-interest rates, costs, volatile electricity prices and planning and connection delays bruise profits and stall projects." Colm Murphy from National Grid ESO has been asked a lot of questions from members at the HEA Conference today around the ESO plans to form the National Energy System Operator, which is expected to be launched later this year. This will be an independent public corporation responsible for planning Britain’s electricity and gas networks and operating the electricity system. It will be tasked with ensuring that Britain’s energy system is secure and affordable and forging the path to a sustainable future. He said: “We have been charged with looking at things in the round and there will certainly be trade offs. We have to be thoughtful about how we deliver a whole system approach to the energy markets, including both the existing electricity and gas systems as well as future emerging markets of hydrogen and carbon capture and storage.” #hea2024actingonambition

There's no doubt that we welcome all the very positive announcements about GB Energy, the newly established state-owned entity in the UK, which is set to be based in Aberdeen. However, there is still a pressing need for a clear plan on how and when the UK will enhance grid capacity to accommodate the integration of renewable sources like wind and solar energy, as well as the establishment of substantial battery storage infrastructure. The timeline for these critical developments remains disconcertingly vague. Will GB Energy deliver the goods, and more to the point, will it do so on time? https://lnkd.in/e6gEgR4t Tim Munn Louise McWatt Derek McGlashan Asish Mohanty MSc , B.Tech Andy Hurley MNI Fatima Tahir National Maritime Zero Emissions Ship Technology Association (ZESTAs) Cornwall Marine Network #RenewableEnergy #EnergyTransition #EnergyInfrastructure #UKEnergy #GreenEnergy

Around 70% of the investment into the energy transition has been into grid decarbonization – mostly renewables – where returns have become increasingly compressed. However, despite making up 23% of global CO2 emissions, transportation has historically been under-invested. This is starting to change, and the sector is now one the largest segments of the energy transition.
