The barrier systems have proved to be the best flood protection and have already been built and installed in several countries around the globe. Rapid onset flooding cost by heavy rainfall causes the greatest damage to underground parking, metrostation and all other lower entrances. For deployment of the more traditional type of manually operated flood doors and floodgates systems, you need warning time and time to set up the barrier which you don’t have in these cases. The SCFB overcomes all the issues associated with these flood defenses and has the considerable advantage of not requiring any intervention during a flood warning, the SCFB uses the approaching floodwaters to automatically raise the barrier; effectively using the problem to create the solution. This is a good idea . What if the water pressure is too high. Up to what level will it hold back the water . What sort of maintenance / costs are we looking at ?

Great idea. Got to consider however, manufacturer, install, asset delivery and maintenance and interference costs, all must prove viable before a great efficient idea can be rolled out on a bigger scale. Innovation of this kind could see various funding options contribute, well done!
I have visited the test basin in Belgium to see the barrier live in action. https://www.aggeres.com/en/ And in Spakenburg, NL the flood barrier is installed and operational. As Arcadis we did the reliability analyses (RAMS) for that. Oliver Femont Tom Wijdenes

1yHow about the reliability of this system? Is clogging or seizure a concern? What kind of maintenance and inspection are required to ensure its functionality, and how frequently need to conduct these maintenance and inspection? If any part of the system is failed or has a fault, how easily to replace or repair it, and how long will it take?
