I appreciate the strategies shared for improving emotional intelligence in the workplace, as they provide practical ways to enhance interpersonal skills. In addition to these strategies, I would suggest incorporating mindfulness practices. Mindfulness can significantly boost emotional awareness, helping individuals recognize and manage their emotions more effectively. By fostering present-moment awareness, mindfulness creates a more empathetic workplace environment, essential for effective communication and collaboration.

One strategy that I would add is practicing active listening. By actively listening to our colleagues, we can better understand their emotions and perspectives, which can help us respond in a more empathetic and effective way.

Strategy # 21 sits at the heart of showing up as a high EQ leader. Labelling the emotion stops the flow of cortisol that shuts down the pre-frontal cortex (conscuious brain). This keeps you resourceful and allows you to reframe a negative into a positive.
