Additionally, as investors in improved minerals education, these face-to-face meetings are crucial for understanding the structural challenges, including constraints at the departmental and university levels, as well as limitations imposed by government policies. Additionally, there are areas where further development in student preparedness, particularly in professional and interpersonal skills are necessary. While these skills extend beyond the traditional scope of both industry and academia, it is essential that we work together to address this broader societal need. Today was the kick off for the Office of Student Research, Summer Research Program! Drs. Claire Todd and Tandis Bidgoli will be mentoring a gang of #CSUSB Geology students who will work collaboratively with undergraduates from Riverside Community College (not shown in pic) for the next 10 weeks. Dr. Todd’s students will be heading to Mt Rainier to conduct research on glaciers. Dr. Bidgoli’s will be performing mapping and slip rate analysis of the eastern Garlock and Owl Lake faults. The geology of the exposed midcontinent rift in the Lake Superior region provides a glimpse into the complex diagenesis of the rift zone. This geology now lies buried to the south along the rift but similar development can be inferred. Day of Geology today! Today, I celebrate my knowledge in what Earth is made of. As a child, I always asked the question "How do we even get Se, Fe, Mg into our body?" I mean, I knew from food. But how did food get it too. It is without doubt, I know how great the study of Geology is and my understanding of how there are good and bad trace elements for the body.
