I’ve always wondered what it would feel like to be an associate graduate, and now, here I am, nearing the end of my B.Sc journey! 🎓 This year has truly tested my limits, especially when my second-semester exams collided with exams of a virtual programme I had been committed to. And just when I thought I'd catch a break, I had to immediately start preparing for a final presentation for another programme. It was a whirlwind, to say the least! But through it all, this year has been my best yet. Amidst the exhaustion and challenges, I experienced significant growth—personally, intellectually, and in terms of my skill set. I completed a branding specialisation programme, attended various conferences, and immersed myself in thought-provoking events that broadened my perspective. Two highlights stand out: the just-concluded TEDxSamaru and the first-ever Mass Communication International Conference organised by my department. Networking with experts, emerging thought leaders, and making new, inspiring friends has been one of the most rewarding aspects of this year. These connections have truly been a driving force behind much of my productivity and growth. On the leadership front, I was honoured to take on several roles, including my most significant yet—being elected as the Deputy Speaker of the Faculty of Social Sciences at ABU Zaria. This past academic session has been nothing short of amazing. As a finalist now, I find myself not just anticipating the next chapter but actively preparing for what lies ahead. P.S: As I prepare for the next chapter, I'm always open to connecting with like-minded individuals, collaborators, and opportunities that align with my growth and interests. #PersonalGrowth #Leadership #Networking #SkillsDevelopment #MassCommunication #StudentLeadership #ABUZaria #BrandingSpecialist #CareerGrowth #TEDx #NewOpportunities #Collaboration #LifelongLearning

You Have to Network Like Crazy or Your MBA is a Waste We've all heard it: "Your MBA is all about the network!" But let's be real, the term "networking" can feel a bit forced and transactional. Here's the truth: Your first year of MBA is intense. But it's about more than just collecting contacts. Focus on building your "MBA Tribe": genuine friendships with like-minded individuals who will be your support system, cheerleaders, and sounding board throughout your journey. Ditch the "networking events" mindset! Craft a captivating elevator pitch: hone a concise statement that showcases your unique value. Seek out meaningful interactions: Brilliant classmates: Collaborate on projects and case competitions to learn from each other's strengths. Seasoned seniors: Gain invaluable insights through clubs, societies, cultural events, and mentorship programs. Inspiring alumni: Tap into their wisdom and career advice through alumni networks, LinkedIn, and meet-ups. Focus on Value, Not Advantage: Your MBA tribe is a two-way street. Forget the transactional approach: Offer genuine support: Be a sounding board for your tribe's challenges. Share relevant resources: Help each other navigate the academic journey. Celebrate successes: Be a cheerleader for your tribe's achievements. Remember, your tribe is more than just a professional network! Building connections is important, but it's just a piece of the puzzle. Focus on what matters: Building genuine connections, sharpening your skills, and chasing your personal development goals. That'll set you up for long-term success. #MBA #Networking #BuildingYourTribe #PersonalDevelopment #Mindset

Have you ever noticed how the pursuit of specialization dominates our professional landscape? Here's a thought – the real innovators are those who embrace versatility. It's a common belief that mastering a single skill is the key to success. But let's think bigger. The true path to distinction lies not just in excelling at one thing but in becoming proficient in a broad array of skills that complement each other. Why settle for being a one-trick pony when you have the potential to be a Swiss Army knife? Take a moment to survey your industry. Those skills that are both highly valued and scarce? They represent untapped opportunities. Embarking on a journey to learn these skills and integrating them with your existing expertise can set you apart. But the journey doesn't end with acquisition. Showcasing your diverse skill set through your work, collaborations, and projects is crucial. It's your opportunity to demonstrate the unique value you bring to your field. Embracing a wide range of valuable skills transforms you into a multifaceted professional, equipped to navigate and lead in the evolving landscape of your industry. Excellence isn't about mastering one skill but about combining a unique set of skills that set you apart in your industry; it's about being remarkably competent in several areas that matter. I'm curious, how are you diversifying your skill set within your industry? Share your approach to professional development and how you're preparing to meet the changing demands of your trade. Let's inspire a dialogue about broadening our capabilities and redefining excellence. 💪 #professionaldevelopment #SkillDiversity #careergrowth #industryleadership

🌟 Ever wondered what it takes to stand out in today's competitive job market?🌟 I had the incredible opportunity to find out firsthand at an industry networking event at EBS University today! Some of my key learning’s are as follows: 1. Adaptability is Essential: Companies are increasingly looking for candidates who can quickly adapt to changing environments and possess a strong set of transferable skills. 2. Cultural Fit Matters: Beyond technical skills, employers are prioritizing candidates who align with their company culture and values, making soft skills more important than ever. The emphasis on sustainability across industries surprised me the most. It was fascinating to learn how companies are integrating sustainable practices into their operations, shaping a more environmentally conscious job market in Germany. Engaging with leaders from JACK WOLFSKIN, GKES - Gunnar Kühne Executive Search GmbH, BRITA Group and Sigma Corporate Finance GmbH was a highlight. I particularly enjoyed hearing about how industries are using technology while maintaining a strong commitment to environmental responsibility. Their innovative approach and dedication to sustainability were truly inspiring. The event concluded with a casual get-together over snacks and wine, providing the perfect atmosphere for deeper networking and making meaningful connections with both industry leaders and peers. A huge thanks to EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht for organizing such a fantastic event and to all the industry experts who shared their knowledge and experiences with us. I’m excited to apply these new insights as I continue my journey in the MIM program.
