Looking forward to NAB this year! If you want to meet up and chat about niche streaming please reach out. As consumers continue to struggle with the increasing cost of the big streaming services and reconsider "service stacking", lower cost niche alternatives that super-serve their dedicated fans are thriving. Netflix doesn't build community, but Crunchyroll does. As markets continue to fragment, specialty streamers will fill in important content and marketing gaps. The future is niche!

Strategy is the choices you make to win in the marketplace. Take the case of Netflix in the early 2000s. The company started as a DVD rental service but strategically decided to shift toward streaming content. They saw limited scale in renting DVDs. It had limitations of geographical reach. This wasn’t just a change in plan; it was a strategic choice that positioned them for long-term success, even as competitors focused on traditional business models. What choices are you making to win? Once you make the choice, invest resources and capabilities to make the choices are reality.

Are Buzzy Shows Enough to Keep Subscribers Hooked? 😯 Streaming services are thriving, but subscriber loyalty is a different story. Despite a 40% increase in streaming content viewership this year, nearly half of subscribers rotate between platforms every six months, chasing the next big hit. Even blockbuster shows can’t stop the churn—viewers often leave once their favourite series ends. 🔄 Interestingly, Netflix bucks this trend, with its algorithm keeping subscribers engaged and reducing churn. Bundling services, like the Disney Bundle and Apple One, also show promise in retaining users. As competition intensifies, will bundling be the key to reducing churn, or is a robust content strategy the ultimate solution? 🎥📉 #StreamingWars #StreamingMedia #ContentStrategy #DigitalMedia #SVOD #Netflix #Retention #MediaTrends

From renting DVDs to disrupting the cable market -> the story of Netflix 👇 Netflix started in 1997 as a website that allowed people to rent DVDs online and get them delivered by mail. However, the company saw the future of entertainment in digital delivery and made the bold decision to pivot to streaming in 2007. This was a risky move at a time when streaming video required faster and more stable internet, which was just starting to become available through broadband services. ➡ 𝐀𝐝𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 – On demand content: Netflix let people watch what they wanted, when they wanted, and how they wanted. People could now skip the TV schedules, ads while not having to stay at home. ➡ 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧- In 2013, Netflix started making its own shows and content, understanding that licensing content from media companies may just limit its potential. By creating their own content, they became a major player in the entertainment industry. ➡ 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦- Over 75% of what people watch comes from their personalized suggestions. Instead of offering a one-size-fits-all list of popular shows, they analyze massive amounts of user data to tailor recommendations to each viewer. Having about 270 + million global subscribers as of 2024, Netflix really transformed the industry and is way more than just a streaming service. #netflix #tech #streaming

If you were the King of Streaming, what would be your next big bet ? For Netflix, it might not be what you think Netflix has an eye watering 280 Million subscribers across 190+ countries. Their biggest priority will be acquiring New Subscribers for years to come. But, eventually subscriber growth will slow down. But Investors’ expectations won’t. New revenue streams will be key to: → reach a wider audience → increase engagement and retention → build a more resilient business model Here are the 3 areas Netflix has to get right: → Licensing rights to Netflix Originals → Develop their Advertising Offering → Double down on Netflix Gaming What do you think Netflix should focus on in the next 5-10 years ?
