On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, we had the privilege of welcoming Yabes Kobriantoro Nangoi, an alumnus from the Environmental Engineering program, Class of 2017. The meeting was truly inspiring, as Yabes shared his journey during his time at university, his internship experiences, his career path after graduation, and his time at Smash.id, where he gained valuable insights that ultimately led him to start his own venture.
During his studies at President University, Yabes was not only focused on academics but was also actively involved in various activities and organizations. He shared that his internship experience was a pivotal moment in shaping his career outlook in the environmental field. After graduating, Yabes landed a job at Smash.id, a company that helped him dive deeper into the business world, particularly in sustainability and technology.
At Smash.id, Yabes learned about sustainability and corporate social responsibility, which laid a solid foundation for him to pursue his bigger dream. After working for a few years, he took the bold step of establishing his own start-up, which he named Briga Sustainability Center.
Briga Sustainability Center is a social enterprise with a mission to accelerate the global sustainability movement. Yabes explained that through this start-up, he is committed to empowering ESG-friendly businesses through concepts such as SHR (Sustainable Human Resources), SCSR (Sustainable Corporate Social Responsibility), and SRnD (Sustainability Research and Development). The broader vision is to support the creation of a more responsible business ecosystem, both environmentally and socially.
Yabes’ passion and dedication to driving change through Briga Sustainability Center are truly inspiring. With his background in environmental engineering and extensive experience, he continues to push forward, contributing to a more sustainable future.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Yabes for taking the time to share his experiences and insights with us. His visit was incredibly motivating, and we deeply appreciate his willingness to inspire the next generation of students.
To all other alumni, we warmly invite you to return to campus and share your stories. Your experiences and successes can inspire and guide current students and fellow graduates, just as Yabes has done. We look forward to welcoming you and hearing your valuable insights!
