The day after an election can bring a whirlwind of emotions - some expected, some surprising, and all very real. It is a time of uncertainty in which your leadership is needed more than ever and also more impactful than you may realize. Election results touch on issues that affect us deeply - values, representation, economic forecasts, social policies, and the general sense of where we’re heading as a society. While you navigate your own reflections, your teams are looking to you for reassurance, wisdom, and direction. It is upon you as a leader to ensure that, no matter the differences in viewpoints, your teams collaborate well and unite in the pursuit of company goals. It can be challenging to guide your teams through their mix of reactions and concerns. Remember, it’s okay to pause and reflect. Your authenticity matters! Follow these 3 steps today to lead with empathy and compassion: • Set up a team check-in where people are free to share their thoughts or just listen. • Gently guide the conversation back to shared objectives once everyone feels heard. The best leaders hold space for humanity while also steering toward purpose. • Before jumping into your packed schedule, give yourself permission to pause. A walk, journaling, or a simple 10-minute breather can make a world of difference in helping you lead from a place of centeredness. How are you feeling today? Send me a messagae if you'd like to share your thoughts or need support. #leadership #womenempowerment #womenleaders #election #empathy #compassion

On one end this book is a history of the Times and Jill Abramson’s storied career, and on the other there is a myriad of lessons on information, where we get it from, how we use it, how we as leaders communicate it, and how we deal with quickly changing times. Choosing how, what to, and when to innovate will always be crucial and pivotal for a leader.

At the end of the year, we tend to reflect on what occurred in the past 12 months and then begin to identify what we hope will occur in the coming year. Think of those summaries as "headlines." Why is that important? The "looking back" headline helps you recognize what has happened. Maybe you need to celebrate with your team. Possibly, you have come through great difficulties, and it is time to acknowledge the perseverance of many. Either way, the leader is uniquely positioned to create the headline and give context to the organization. The "look ahead" headline is aspirational. It is a forecast of what one hopes will happen. This is the time for the leader to inspire and prepare the company for future tasks. Interestingly, this perspective often identifies the transcendent purpose. It rallies spirits and encourages everyone to look beyond the day-to-day grind. We work on both looks in our monthly C12 Business Forums. Why not join us? Mark Zuckerberg’s recent positive remarks about Donald Trump have sparked curiosity—could this be a sign of a political shift? Once known for his liberal stance, Zuckerberg has faced significant scrutiny from the Democratic Party over the past decade. Now, some are wondering if his views are evolving, or if this is just a strategic move. What does this potential shift mean for the intersection of Big Tech and politics? Could it be a reflection of how political landscapes impact business leaders? #Leadership #Politics #Zuckerberg #TechIndustry #PoliticalShift

DISTRACTION. Not just today. But likely the rest of this week. Many Americans will have their minds on the election. And many will be experiencing feelings of anxiety, fear, and maybe, hope. It's a time for leaders to lean in. Give people an extra moment if needed. Ask how people are doing. Give people the opportunity to talk, with respect. Practice patience. Don't move up a deadline. Let's see how we can come together in a time of division and stress. By being there for one another, it's a start. One way or another, change is coming. #authenticleadership #candorcourageandcare #whatmattersmost #itsallaboutrelationships
