“Is it an energy transition or an energy addition? We’re probably going to need a lot more of everything and there are challenges with all forms of energy.” RBC's John Stackhouse speaking to Andrew Gillick at the Energy Disruptors event in Calgary today- Oct 1st. “You mentioned the IRA and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law in the U.S which have collectively led to $500 mn (in stimulus) so far – half trillion dollars in just 3 years- it’s historic. Can that pace be continued? You’re saying it needs to be. Right now, we are looking at 3 years but you are saying we need it for 20 years. My question is, can the U.S. afford to keep that going and can the rest of the world afford to keep pace?” “I think as long as the programs are in place and the investors feel comfortable with the risk that they are taking- yes," says Andrew Gillick. "But I don’t think you have to scale up at this rate of investment from the public sector. The private sector has 5 or 6 times the amount of what the public has… You want to get it right at home -while you are working with your allies and North America is a great place to start.” Great conversations at the Energy Disruptors Unite 2024 Conference which continues tomorrow- Kudos to Graeme Edge Founder & CEO Energy Disruptors & ScaleBlaze, Link to register in comments. #oilgas #energy #oilandgas #oilandgasindustry #investment

#Cleantechers – My primary management strategy for climatology doom angst is helping climate solutions companies scale. Here’s a case in point, but I’m warning you that client bragging is about to happen. Since its public markets debut in February 2023, Nextracker Inc. has had quite the year. Their stock surged by an impressive 150%. As CEO Daniel Shugar notes, solar is on the path to double every 2-3 years. It's the cheapest, quickest, and safest energy source for most of the world's power needs. Bloomberg's Ryan Gould interviewed Dan about life since going public (H/T to our co-counsel, Collected Strategies for securing this story). Shug highlighted a major impact of going public: Investors can be agents in the clean energy transition. Nextracker shipped 350 megawatts a week last fiscal year – the equivalent of mothballing one small coal plant each week! With new investment flowing into cleantech, companies like Nextracker shake things up. Going public means more capital for more growth. One of the great parts about my job is helping clean economy companies advance through the business life cycle, and I’m looking forward to helping more companies rise to the heights Dan and Nextracker have reached. If you need a reason to hear about cleantech success, read Bloomberg’s recent newsletter:
