Just came across a thought-provoking article emphasizing the critical role of true inclusion in the workplace. It shed light on the often overlooked reality that employees who feel they must hide their true selves due to fear of discrimination – be it their religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, or socio-economic background – are at a higher risk of leaving their organizations. What stands out is the call to move beyond surface-level perks and truly understand our employees. It's not just about the free coffee or competitive benefits; it's about creating an environment where everyone feels safe and valued for who they are. The article suggests utilizing segmented employee engagement surveys, focus groups facilitated by third parties, and genuine one-on-one conversations to dive deeper into understanding our teams. It's a reminder that inclusion isn't just a checkbox – it's the foundation of a thriving workplace culture. Let's champion for environments where everyone can bring their whole selves to work. #Inclusion #DiversityAndInclusion #WorkplaceCulture

Inclusion Is JUST AS Important As Diversity. TeleSolv Consulting recognizes the importance of having a diverse team as it brings more creativity and innovation into the workplace, and we can better understand our client's needs and challenges with the different perspectives and backgrounds on our team. We also understand that inclusion is equally vital for retaining talented individuals. We're sharing this article from Harvard Business Review that argues that while diversity initiatives aim to increase the representation of underrepresented groups, inclusion ensures that all employees feel valued, and respected, and can fully contribute to the organization. Check out the article below! Focusing on creating inclusive environments leads to higher employee satisfaction, engagement, and retention. In line with our commitment to inclusion, we are excited to announce we will be at the upcoming Diversity Employment Job Fair hosted by City Career Fair. “…creating an environment where people can be who they are, that values their unique talents and perspectives, and makes them want to stay.” Don’t just hire the candidate with an accent or onboard a minority to your organization. Create an intentional inclusive process for your diverse team, whether at work, or your board of directors.

Diversity is important. It really is. But most EDI programs/efforts focus too narrowly on diversity and diversity alone cannot create a culture of belonging (which is essentially the goal of EDI). If organizations first focus on ensuring the culture is welcoming and inclusive, diversity will be a much easier feat.
