Smartflower offers an innovative #solar PV solution that can be delivered and installed within few hours. I believe that SmartFlower solar PV solution can really start an #agrivoltaics revolution in #USA. Do you know that 9 million acres of land in U.S. cities (i.e. roughly the size of #Switzerland) is either vacant or abandoned. By using this space for Smartflower solar PV solution's installation, we can turn these vacant spaces into micro-engine of clean electricity production. https://lnkd.in/dU8Rwzqn /Ayoub #AyoubHameedi #ProjectGE #ProjectHuner #solarpv #solarpower #renewableenergy #sustainability #ClimateAction #GlobalGoals #ParisAgreement #SustainableDevelopmentGoals

Our Peace Butte solar and battery project in Alberta has officially received the green light 👏 It's a relieving moment as this marks the first solar park approval in Alberta since the Alberta Utilities Commission implemented new rules after a seven-month pause. With 230 MW of solar generation and a 75/ 200 MWh battery energy storage system, this project is a major leap forward in decarbonizing Alberta's electricity grid. The recent rule updates by the AUC address key factors like reclamation security, visual impact, soil productivity and participation in hearings. Victor Beda, our Country Manager said "This is a significant breakthrough and we are now gaining clarity on how to move forward. Approvals are now being issued by the Commission, demonstrating the viability of solar and the benefit to Albertans." Since 2019, a Swiss company called Romande Energie has been installing large floating solar farms on a reservoir in Switzerland known as Lac des Toules. This is one of the first high-altitude reservoirs to implement a floating solar farm, with a total capacity of nearly 448 kW. Going into detail on this impressive Swiss photovoltaic project, the reservoir sits at about 1,810 meters above sea level and holds around 35 platforms of bifacial solar panels. While this may sound like it covers a large area of the lake, the solar panels only occupy about 2% of the reservoir’s surface. The floating platforms that support the bifacial solar panels are anchored to the lakebed and remain in place from June through December, when the reservoir fills with meltwater. From January through May, as water levels recede, the platforms rest on the lakebed. https://lnkd.in/epbkQSyh.ecoticias.com%2Fen%2Fswitzerland-covering-alps-solar-panels%2F8544%2F&utm_campaign=aga&utm_source=agsadl2%2Csh%2Fx%2Fgs%2Fm2%2F4

Canary Media with a post on how community solar makes cheap renewable power available to more people, including those who live in rentals and multifamily buildings. "Community solar allows customers to reap electric bill savings by subscribing to a share of a local solar project, rather than installing their own array. It’s an arrangement that ideally makes the benefits of solar more accessible to people who live in rental or multifamily housing and those who just can’t afford the upfront cost of rooftop systems. Forty-two states have community solar projects in place — but the precise nature of who has benefited remained unclear. Until now. A June study by researchers from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory that analyzed data from 11 states found that people who adopt community solar are 6.1 times more likely to live in multifamily buildings, are 4.4 times more likely to rent, and earn 23 percent less annual income than rooftop solar adopters, who skew wealthy. “Community solar is delivering on its promise,” said Eric O’Shaughnessy, the lead author of the peer-reviewed study, an affiliate at LBNL, and a renewable energy research analyst at Clean Kilowatts." Curious about Chicago’s solar potential? The Chicago Solar Map, developed by National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and Illinois Solar for All Program Administrator Elevate with support from The Chicago Community Trust, provides reliable estimates of the solar energy potential for all buildings and land parcels within the City of Chicago and a limited area of suburban Cook County. Users can browse neighborhoods, filter by several criteria, and search for individual properties to determine solar energy potential. Additionally, the Chicago Solar Map allows users to view boundaries of Illinois Solar for All (ILSFA) Income-Eligible Communities and Environmental Justice Communities. Properties in these areas may qualify for solar incentives through the ILSFA program. https://lnkd.in/gr46ByM4 #Chicago #CookCounty #SolarPower #EnergyEquity #ILSFA #EJC #Sustainability #Renewables

East Green Energy strongly welcomes the government's recent announcements regarding the solar industry. Ed Miliband has reactivated the Solar Taskforce and set a new target of 50GW (up from 40GW) to be delivered by 2030. We look forward to working with Solar Energy UK to make a contribution to this target. The key measures include: ⚡️Encouraging rooftop solar installations for builders and homeowners ⚡️Approving large-scale solar farms, adding 1.35GW capacity ⚡️Mandating solar panels on new homes and non-residential buildings ⚡️Reforming planning systems to expedite solar farm development ⚡️Liberalising rules for installing rooftop solar on listed buildings Stephen Wilding Chris Hewett #poweringchange #RenewableEnergy
