Look at the pattern. Simplistically... Take 1/7: 0.1428571428571 Multiply by 100: 14.28571428571 But 100/7 is exactly 14 2/7... Subtract 14, you get 2/7: 0.28571428571 Shifting the decimal place just gives some other fraction with denominator 7. Does it mean that any number coprime with 10 has this property? Yes, though it's not clear it will cycle through all possible fractions. (1/3)*10^n will always be remainder 1/3 (0.333...) 1/11 cycles back and forth between remainder 10/11 and 1/11 (0.090909...)
