This article is awesome! Many don't realize the avenues the military can open up for many individuals. This doesn't mean everyone should go into the military, but I know without a shadow of a doubt that I would not be where I am today without the lessons I learned while serving in the Navy. Here's a fun fact: Ken and I both retired with the same ranking as Rear Admiral. It was an honor to read his story and learn how he served in the Navy and was an astronaut on the Apollo 16 mission. If you want to nominate a veteran, check out the link at the bottom of this article. #Veteran #HonoringVeterans #NavyVeteran

Meet Jonny Kim. He’s a Navy Seal, a Harvard doctor, and an astronaut all at the same time. And he became all of that before turning 35 😳 Jonathan Yong Kim grew up in a broken home with an abusive father. At 16, he started training his body and mind to join the Navy Seals and became a special ops combat medic, a sniper, and a navigator. He won tons of medals for his service. At 28, he realized he wanted to heal people. So he joined the Harvard Medical School and graduated as a doctor at 32. And then at 33, he applied to NASA and was one of 18 people chosen out of 18,000 candidates to join the next batch of astronauts flying to the moon in 2024. He will be the first Korean American to go to space. He is also a father of 3 beautiful children. Johnny's story is a brilliant illustration that our only limitations are those we set up in our minds. Living legend.

This is Space Force JROTC Moments of Remembrance for Military Space Sacrifices: 4 In 1999, the “Moment of Remembrance” was added at 3 pm local on Memorial Day by declaration of the President of the United States. The declaration expanded the scope of Memorial Day by asking all Americans to hold a minute of silence to remember those who died in service to the nation. This Memorial Day weekend, the Space Force JROTC enterprise would like to share some posts of military members who died in the line of duty when serving the nation’s vision in space. Please remember these individuals during your Moment of Remembrance on Monday afternoon. Major Charles Arthur "Charlie" Bassett II, USAF, (December 30, 1931 – February 28, 1966), was an electrical engineer and United States Air Force test pilot. He was selected as a NASA astronaut in 1963 and assigned to the Gemini 9 mission. He and his Gemini 9 crew-mate died when they were landing their NASA T-38 aircraft in bad weather in St. Louis. Their aircraft crashed into the McDonnell Aircraft building located beside the runway. It was where they were going to participate in two weeks of space rendezvous simulation training for their first flight above the Kármán line. (This is one international convention for the physical boundary of #space. It is placed at 62 miles above mean sea level). #WeRemember this #MemorialDay. #TelltheirStories For a meaningful recording of Taps to use during the Moment of Rememberence, consider this contribution from the U.S. Army: https://lnkd.in/eny6m6Zd The ten #SFJROTC units are managed by HQ AF Junior ROTC with United States Space Force, Space Training and Readiness Command, Space Delta 13, Detachment 2. This is such a simple quote, but so difficult to do. At every turn you have things popping out at you trying to distract you from what you really want. Something shinier, something less riskier, something easier (on the surface level atleast). Everyday, I find myself reminding me why I am doing what I am doing so that I can focus on the bigger picture and not get caught up with the traditional flow. Seeing this post today, it struck a chord. Indeed, we need nothing else. Set a goal, make a plan and everyday do something towards it with blind faith to see it through, irrespective of your doubts and fear. #liveinspired

Not gifted. Not smarter. Not stronger. "I just have the ability to stick to a plan and not quit." There's that nasty word again - plan... Surround yourself with the **right people**. Equip yourself with relevant **factually correct** knowledge. And remember, “The purpose of knowledge is action, not knowledge”. Challenge the status quo, starting with yours. #thealternativeboard #strategy #foresight #lifelonglearning #economy #future #business #innovation #leadership #BusinessOwners #businessadvice #TABBoards #tabboardssa
