Cold sales outreach people!
If you're going to offer someone credit in exchange for a call, at least do enough research to check whether your target can use said credit. 🤦 🤦 🤦
Just been offered credits on DoorDash (which isn't available in my city, country, or even continent) in exchange for a meeting.
Also with 0 context of what the meeting is about.
Just "we want to show you over a virtual lunch how we can help your team"
-.-

Good to know you take doordash 😆
I might have some thoughts for Brand exposure for SuperScout & Tutti. But would need to discuss what you’re up to.
Looking to put together a forum in London during November as well. Somebody has to start building an infrastructure, can’t keep waiting around.

From Macaroons to Millions - The DoorDash CEO's Guide to Sales Success. Back in 2012, four tech enthusiasts found themselves talking to Chloe, the manager of a small macaroon store in Palo Alto. They wanted to create something that could help small business owners. But it turned out, their initial app didn't solve Chloe's biggest problem: she was overwhelmed with delivery orders and had no drivers to fulfill them. This was a common issue among many small businesses they interviewed. Deliveries were a major pain point.
As they talked to more business owners, the team discovered that delivery issues were widespread. Everyone had the same struggle – managing orders and finding reliable drivers was really tough. They knew something had to be done, not just for the businesses, but for themselves too. Living in Palo Alto, they missed the convenience of food deliveries that were the norm in big cities. This gap presented both a problem and an opportunity.
So, they decided to act. They coded their first prototype in just a few hours and soon made their first delivery. Fast forward a bit, they were making deliveries every day, learning the ins and outs of the process. By transforming into DoorDash, they pioneered a solution that didn't just deliver food but brought joy and convenience to many. For your sales strategy, remember that identifying a common pain point and crafting a targeted solution can lead to massive success.
My Big Takeaway: The importance of having a robust sales system and strategy. DoorDash didn’t just stumble upon success; they built a structured delivery system that met the needs of both businesses and consumers. Invest in understanding the problems your potential customers face and offer strategic solutions. This approach doesn’t just drive revenue; it changes lives.

I was working on my first 5 figure deal
A week before the pilot, my champion left the company
Back then I had no idea what multi-threading was
So the weeks of relationship building were gone
The project then fell into the hands of an SDR team lead and Head of Marketing who had to give final approval
But there was a problem: both of them were unresponsive neither to emails nor calls
I thought the deal was dead
As a last hope, I got the address of the SDR team lead
And found an In-N-Out burger nearby and sent a meal via DoorDash with a short note
Within an hour I got a reply and that deal ended up closing.
Moral of the story: Be creative and make sure to multi-thread all your deals.

‘Contact Advertising’ Direct mail that doesn’t look like advertising.
We’ll send a book mock up with their name & picture. A clever title, a secret cut-out and your message inside, handwritten by a human.
Getting stuff in the mail all but disappeared when email came along.
Now though, we live in an age where parcels and letters dominate again. Amazon, JustEat, Deliveroo.
As a seller, I’ve been around long enough to see the rise and fall of all outreach methods.
I’m not interested in delivery methods. I’m interested (and good at) the messaging.
Deliver a funny, or shocking, or intriguing message…using a method that is funny, or shocking, or intriguing and…Robert is your Mum’s sibling.
If this fact has dawned on you too, it might be time to talk?
Don’t follow me. Your head may explode.

Black people love 🍇 soda — Unashamedly breaking no stereo types on this post:
This little can of grape soda taught me a few lessons in 2018 about business that have shaped my career.
The lessons:
1. Customer acquisition cost will either make or break you as a product company.
2. You can build a real business around repeat customers.
I’ve probably purchased a 24 pack of this grade zevia on Amazon a hundred times.
But I only clicked on the ad once. Every time after that, I went back to my orders in the Amazon app and hit repeat order.
About the third time I did that I realized, Zevia just acquired a lifetime customer for a single $5 click.
I’m confident that Zevia lost money on me the first time that I purchased. But they’re playing the long game and their lifetime value on me is now probably nearing $1000 of profit.
Zevia gave me the playbook and I built my career around it: Advertise heavily, acquire customers, give them a flawless experience, rinse, repeat.
Give me a follow for my future posts about the business lessons we can learn from fried chicken & 🍉
Well, Seth Yakatan said it well, 420 was a nightmare for Dutchie customers. And apparently this is the 3rd 420 holiday this has happened for them ...
Luckily, there really are several alternatives out there that focus EXCLUSIVELY on your POS, and how well the POS hardware/software scales when orders spike on a holiday like 420 (dynamically expansive cloud computing, anyone?).
Let's take the lessons from 420 this year, and finally move forward on better platforms. Even with all the bells and whistles that Dutchie provides, there are other ancillary providers that can manage these items for you.
- For all of your SEO needs, there is no one better than Brady Madden
- For all of your customer retention and loyalty program needs, Steve Riparip is a master at his craft
And, quite frankly, if you need someone to take a look 'under the hood' of your tech stack, or just need some general tech advice, my inbox is always open! Solve IoT has solutions to empower you to function as a business, without the worry of systems failing unexpectedly (or, expectedly!?), so your cannabis company can grow and scale successfully!
Another 420, another Dutchie nightmare.
I opened LinkedIn on Saturday and EVERY SINGLE POST on my feed was a complaint about Dutchie going down on.
Saturday was supposed to be the biggest sales day of the year.
But for some, they couldn’t process transactions for 5 hours.
Dutchie, for the third year in a row, shat itself on 420.
→ Retailers
I’m sorry you had to go through this.
It’s hard enough out there without your tech failing on you.
420 is supposed to be a big cash flow day.
Not long lines of disgruntled customers.
Who then go down the street to the dispensary using Flowhub…
→ Dutchie’s Rivals
Get busy.
Have your top sales people on double time.
Your biggest sales day of the year should be TODAY.
Every Dutchie customer is going to be looking for alternatives.
→ And for Dutchie
I don’t know how you recover from this.
Your reputation was already in tatters from the previous two years of outages + fee hikes.
Add in the down round which valued you at around $400M, down from $4B in 2021.
And the slew of FAILED products which have clearly shifted your focus from your CORE PRODUCT.
You know, the POS system that your customers expect to work.

So much capital.
So much talent.
So much faith.
