Focus on your #mindset today. Remind yourself, "If it's to be, it's up to me!" It's not up to your company. It's not up to your manager. It's not up to the president. Do you think you can? Or do you think you can't? As the saying goes, either way, you're right. The ability to know we can grow and learn is powerful. It can impact all aspects of our lives. Here is a TED Talk by Carol Dweck discussing this powerful shift in mindset. #growthmindset https://lnkd.in/e8WVu-Bp

Last week in the Mindset Coach Certification program, we were talking about the role of empathy vs sympathy in the coaching relationship. Brene Brown provides a brilliant distinction here. How do you demonstrate empathy with your clients, colleagues, family and friends? And does your relationship with the person change the way you do this? https://lnkd.in/geTjgegd

The power of Growth mindset I highly encourage you to watch this 10 min Ted talk and if you have the time, read the book. A fixed mindset provides a limiting and discouraging view while growth mindset expands potential. The meaning of the words “effort and difficulty” went from making people feel dumb (when in the fixed mindset) to transformed and focused on the future potential when in the growth mindset. When talking about the limitations of the fixed mindset - “Instead of luxuriating in the power of yet, they were gripped in the tyranny of now.” - Carol Dweck #growth #potential

Here’s what a coach doesn’t do: A coach doesn’t replace you. A coach doesn’t take decisions on your behalf. A coach doesn’t answer your questions for you. A coach gives you the tools to focus. A coach gives you the structure to pursue what matters to you. A coach gives you the accountability to keep the momentum going. So why wouldn’t want someone on your side? Guiding your decision making. Helping you uncover your own solutions. And providing you a framework for you to pursue your passions. Thinking about having a coach on your side, book a 30-minute call with me and let's explore how we can work together: https://lnkd.in/ewjFN75v

While preparing for an upcoming mentoring session, I stumbled upon an inspiring TED Talk by John Doerr titled *“Why the Secret to Success is Setting the Right Goals.”* In this video, Doerr highlights the power of setting the right goals to drive progress and fulfillment. 💡 One part of the talk truly inspired me: Goals aren’t just about results—they’re about growth and purpose. Setting the right goals can change not only outcomes but also the way we see our potential. Here are 5 key takeaways from the talk that stood out to me: 𝟭. 𝗢𝗞𝗥𝘀 (𝗢𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀) – Setting clear and measurable goals is *the most* important thing. OKRs align individual efforts with the broader mission of an organization or personal ambition, ensuring a unified direction. 𝟮. 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀, 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗧𝗮𝘀𝗸𝘀 – Effective goals focus on the bigger picture of what we truly want to achieve, helping us prioritize what really matters. 𝟯. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 – Specific, measurable milestones are essential for tracking progress. They bridge the gap between ambition and execution. 𝟰. 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 – Success requires not just setting goals but also committing to them. By focusing on a few critical objectives, we can avoid the pitfalls of spreading ourselves too thin and achieve meaningful progress. 𝟱. 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 – Regularly tracking progress and holding ourselves accountable is vital. This not only keeps us on track but also allows us to celebrate small wins along the way, maintaining motivation and momentum. ✨ “𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘴.” – Eleanor Roosevelt And you, how do you approach goal-setting? Are there any other frameworks or tools you’ve found effective in your personal or professional life that you could recommend? Let’s learn and grow together! 🚀🚀 #mentorship #goalsetting #inspiration

I have a story to share—a #mombrag, but it's more than that. It's a story about the power of a positive mindset. Or, if you follow Shirzad Chamine and his Positive Intelligence movement, it's a beautiful example of shifting from your Judge Saboteur voice to your Sage Activate power. This week, my son made the varsity volleyball team. He’s still new to volleyball – he’s only been playing for a year and while he has raw talent, he doesn’t have the experience his other teammates have. When tryouts rolled around, he was feeling the pressure. After the first day, he came home looking defeated. It was written all over his face—he thought he blew his shot. So, like any mom would, I offered encouragement (you know your teen is hurting when he doesn’t immediately pull away from a hug). And, like any coach would, we talked about self-fulfilling prophecies and the importance of shifting your mindset. The next day, he walked in with a different vibe. He strolled through the door beaming and flashed a “V” sign. I admit it, I may have let out a small (huge) squeal of excitement. When I asked him what turned it around, he dropped this gem: 'Well, when I woke up this morning, I was like, 'Okay, I'll give it my best shot, and if it doesn't work out, whatever.' But then I was like, 'Nah, forget that. I'm gonna baller.' And baller he did. He switched his mindset from doubt to determination and secured his spot on the team. It's a simple but powerful lesson, you know? It's not just about the skills you have; it's about the mindset you bring to the game. So yeah, I'm proud of him for making the team, but I'm even prouder of how he tackled his Saboteurs head-on and shut them down. ----- Do you find yourself encountering roadblocks on your journey to success? Are you wrestling with changing your mindset or feeling limited in what you can achieve? I'm here to help you embrace that 'I'm gonna baller' attitude. Let's work together to overcome these obstacles and shift that mindset from doubt to determination. Summer Day LLC
